    No flashy cuts, no elaborate set-pieces, just a solid script with superb acting and direction. The vision was executed brilliantly. A film that understands the screen is just a big, open stage and takes it's time to breathe and to let you concentrate and soak in the atmosphere, tone, and the mood. The score doesn't overly emphasize what you should be feeling naturally from each scene. Subtle allegorical implications of Karl's position as a guardian angel. I can't think of a single thing that I would change about the movie. There's no agenda, the interpretation is up to the viewer, but every character is handled in a very matter-of-fact manner. What you see is what you get. Much like Karl. Every character is a human, they feel and act as real people, the delivery is genuine. It's just a simple plot but an efficient and effective plot. Suffice it to say, I think this is one of the greatest films of the 20th century. Possibly all time. Such, such a good movie.

    Carl is in fact a "guys guy". Slow, but underestimated by everyone intellectually. A constant thinker who cares for people even though most people never really cared about him. A man, when it comes to tools and working with his hands, and the balls to stand up for what's right and do what needs to be done to protect others, despite his own consequences. Simple yet principled man, who recognizes there is evil in the world, and ultimately he has the courage to confront it.

      In his book American Sniper, Chris Kyle talked about some Arkansas National Guard. He was suprised to see reserves fight as good as they didbut they may as well been speaking Chinese, "They kicked ass and didnt hold back but I couldn't understand what they were saying!" Dwights is actually closer to what an all around Arkansas accent is. The boys mom sounds right too. AND WE DON'T SAY "POP" IN THE SOUTH! A coke and then you ask what kind, Dr pepper, Mt dew, etc. Someone says pop I wanna hit them in the mouth.

    Aside from many other great aspects of this movie, I would mention how spare and tightly-written the dialogue is. And also how
    Thornton/Karl perfectly recaptures that low piercing baritone voice that working class white men used to have in the South.

    • @JoeBonez
      @JoeBonez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s nothing like Vienna sausage. It’s a spreadable meat concoction made from beef hearts, tripe and other offal. It’s very salty, very fatty, and quite unhealthy. But i ate it as a child and I acquired a taste for it that remained even after i found out what was in it. I don’t think i can accurately describe the taste because I’ve never come across anything that compares to it.

    • @randysquires8362
      @randysquires8362 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Billyshead133 ....so who invented the "rest in peace" aka R.I.P. saying, anyway? HEAVEN OR HELL .....guaranteed, you're not going to get any rest in HELL. And in HEAVEN, who wants to rest?!! In the presence of GOD ALMIGHTY, nothing else matters!!!!!!! IT IS WRITTEN, TWICE IN FACT. IN ISAIAH 48:22 , IT SAYS "THERE IS NO PEACE," SAYS THE LORD, "FOR THE WICKED." AND IN ISAIAH 57:20-21 BUT THE WICKED ARE LIKE THE TROUBLED SEA, WHEN IT CANNOT REST, WHOSE WATERS CAST UP MIRE & DIRT. vs21 "THERE IS NO PEACE", SAYS MY GOD,
      "FOR THE WICKED." ............SO THE MORAL TO THE STORY IS THIS, "ITS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW THE KING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS & TO BE KNOWN BY HIM!!!" BECAUSE IF ITS YOUR TIME TO GET YOUR TICKET PUNCHED, ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD WON'T BUY YOU ANOTHER MINUTE ON THIS PLANET. JESUS SAYS THAT, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE! NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME." HE ALREADY PAYED FOR OUR SOULS BY WILLINGLY DYING ON THE CROSS TO APPEASE THE WRATH OF GOD ALMIGHTY. YOUR FINE IS PAYED IN FULL. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REPENT OF YOUR CRIMES, YOU SINS AGAINST GOD & ASK HIM TO FORGIVE YOU, & COME INTO YOUR HEART & SAVE YOU. THEN TELL HIM THAT YOU WILL LIVE FOR HIM NOW & FOREVER. IF YOU DO THIS & MEAN IT (YOU CANNOT FOOL GOD) YOU WILL BE ON YOUR WAY PREPARING FOR YOUR ENTRANCE INTO HIS HEAVENLY KINGDOM! HE LOVED YOU ENOUGH TO TAKE YOUR PUNISHMENT OF ETERNAL DAMNATION & MINE, WHICH WAS A LIFE OF SIN UPON SIN, & BE CRUCIFIED TO SET US FREE! FREE GIFT FROM OUR HOLY GOD!!! FREE GIFT OF ETERNAL SALVATION.....OR AN EARNED GIFT OF AN ETERNITY IN HELL. FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH... BUT THE GIFT IS ETERNAL LIFE IN JESUS.
      MY NAME IS RANDY S, SAVED BY THE KING OF ALL CREATION!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

      His moms in those movies were fairly interchangeable, too. It totally works if you want to go with it. Karl got taken away but not before he showed him how to change the spark plug on a lawn mower. The loss of Karl and that one spark plug set him down the road to the troubled young racer we see in FF3.
