The map layout for Hyper Spaceway in CNK at the time was too complicated for the devs mainly because of the portals. Some of the sections were placed in different spots on the map and it would've been confusing on where your icon will appear; plus, the map was too big to fit into the screen during gameplay
Its funny given the minimaps already struggle with normal tracks also.
Like there is a shortcut in meteor gorge, yet on the minimap, if you take it, the dot will just skip ahead instead of like in og ctr go through that pathway.
That feature is broken in cnk and no wonder they didnt bother to program hyper spaceway lmao.
The game would shit the bed.
If you're this pumped for getting no reward for this I can't wait to see how you react when you 200% Crash Bash.
When you got to attempt 2 i was like "no fucking way does he do it in fucking 2 attempts" and you managed to prove me wrong. Loved this series, it's nice seeing you play the racing games.
Nice work! I hope you go back and do all the Oxide time trials in the original CTR. They are definitely easier than these.
definitely going to do that series towards the end of the year, depends on what is revealed at the game awards and it's release date, assuming it's 'wumpa league'
I'm actually gonna go back and watch the android alley episode again lmao, they should've made the ghost way tighter on this track. But I'm sure even the ghost couldn't be bothered with hyper spaceway's physics and left us with that mediocre time

Because it's a large and complicated map, with portals. I believe.
Feel like Lewis turned the volume down so he didn't have to hear 'I'm tall again' every few seconds.
Now that Lewis is done with this, he can now go for all platinum relics on Crash 4. Either that or play Cuphead on his extra channel.
Cuphead all bosses + dlc expert A+ peoshoter only would be such a long series but still so awesome
I like the CNK version of this track better than the Nitro Fueled version.
Nitro Fueled versions are just CNK tracks with anti-gravity sections removed. Of course it's better not to remove them.
@@dinobotpwnz even with it removed I feel like they could've done ALOT more with it instead of gutting it. I mean it's not bad just so different that its basically a whole new track

I'm 23 too and used to play this game in primary school, this was my favourite track but I straight up didn't know you could drift boost so I used to look at the shortcut and be so confused about how you're meant to jump that far lol. Also had a cheat book that said you could unlock N-tropy and Fake Crash by doing 50 boosts, looks easy now but had no clue back then
Fun fact, throughout this series, Velo has said "I'm tall again" approx. 59 times!. Yes I've counted, I'm sad 😂

Dev times from nitro fueled have significantly made you improve by default and how you approach race tracks to maximize your time.

thing is, you have improved considerably in your dexterity doing all of these , so by the time you reach the final tracks which are a bit harder you can knock it off the park.
i would love to see you doing these with coco or n.gin.
N gin is the slowest character but all velo times are still beatable

This series went so smoothly it should be renamed Nitro Art. Just like an artist mastering extra oily paints, Lewis manoeuvred this game's wonky controls and swept through it. Crash Bash 200% will definitely be quaking in its boots...
As a kid this track used to scare me mainly because you can't use the map
2 attempts and the first one was really short too. Android Alley was the true final boss lmao.

Are you playing this on PCSX2? Because if you log into a RetroAchievements account through that you can get actual achievements for this game, including all the time trials. You can do it on Steam Deck too.

That was not what I was expecting. Hyper Spaceway has always been the toughest track for me. Maybe ps2 physics are more buggy than Xbox.

Congrats, Lewis! I'm guessing you just got used to the weird kart physics in this game that helped you claim victory in all of these time trials in Nitro Kart.
I think _Hyper Spaceway_ is the only track they kind of butchered in Nitro Fueled. I would have loved if they hadn't completely cut out parts of the original track! My guess is that maybe the track would have been too long if you played it online much like how Nintendo cut down Rainbow Road 64 in Mario Kart 8 to one lap.
So in essence, Geary was the final boss of this game purely because of how fucky Android Alley can be lol.

I was 7 when CNK released back in 2003 it wasn't until I was 11 when I finally attempted the time trials, N. Tropy's times weren't too bad. BUT, the Velo Time Trials in CNK were just a scam, bullsh*t glitches and anti-gravity sections screwing up the run, clunky/broken controls which don't help and worse of all... after beating all 13 ghosts.... YOU GET NOTHING! I was really hoping this would unlock the Boss characters, but no. Nothing at all.

Actually cnk has bad gameplay and its times seem more difficult but they are actually way easier than you think im the start
I also beat velo ghosts some weeks ago, and i hit so many obstacles, i fell off the track, i made a lot of mistakes and even this way i beat it. So it's really easy even if the game mechanics are bad
This track was probably the best revamp in NF out of all the tracks that got changed from CNK
Now try winning with a turning character like n gin. All tracks are possible
