Every video, interview, q&a, I see/hear with Andrew Scott confirms what a smart, humble, sweet, funny, talented, special human being he is...and that he’s gorgeous doesn’t hurt. 🦄

What they say about getting into Alex's mindset, or Moriarty's, just by exploring yourself, your imagination, and not having to have the same experiences the characters have, is very interesting. It reminds me of something that the wonderful swedish children's books writer Astrid Lindgren has said, only from a bit different angle: You don't need to have children of your own to be able to write for children. You just have to have been a child once.

Such a good actor! He definitely loves what he does, you can feel it when he talks during the whole Q&A (the 11 parts). He's so cute!

Is there a parallel…I am a social worker, have been for 31 years, but before I had a child, now a young adult, did that prevent me from working with parents and children? No, it didn’t. I agree with Andrew’s comment about empathy. He is also big on the theme of love that runs through the stories and plays he has acted in. That is a universal emotion and can be acted out in so many different ways, storylines, and so forth. This is what makes Andrew Scott stand apart as an actor (who in 2024) is growing in regard by those who have seen his live or filmed work. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ

Great to hear Simon Stephens writes with specific actors in mind. The 'consensus' [I'm not sure whose] seems to be not to do so. I'm a fledgeling playwright (in truth, barely that); but I find it absolutely empowering to write with a great actor in mind, even though I know the chances they'll ever play the part is basically zero. What I do find, however, is that I'm much less likely to 'settle' for writing a not-quite-good-enough line if I imagine it being delivered by (say) Dame Judy Dench*. Just imagining her in the role helps me raise my game.
*I would, however, never, never, never submit a script anywhere with any mention of who I had in mind when I wrote it!
