Nice video Clive & good to see the progress at Troon station. Both Troon & Ayr stations haven’t had much luck in recent years 🔥☹️ As you say the ferry terminal isn’t exactly handy for the train! Thanks for sharing👍🏻
Thanks for your comment. P&O operated a service from Troon to Larne from 2003 to 2016, but it was withdrawn as it lost money. The Sea Cat service had initially operated from Stranraer but that ceased in around 2000. I never used the service from Troon, as I prefer the larger traditional ships when I go to Ireland.
@@Clivestravelandtrains I went over once from Stranraer on a non landing trip. Accompanying my late partner who was going over to see his family. It was very convenient at the Belfast end as it docked in the city centre if I remember correctly (Donegal Quay)
@@chriswade7470 The sea cat service actually went into the harbour, rather than using the outside of the breakwater as the terminal. That area is now used by the sawmill.

Thanks for your comment Ken, I plan to re-visit Ayr at some point!
Looks a kot better already!
I'm looking forward to it opening again, Frank. Thanks.
At one point the fast sea cat service to Belfast operated from Troon instead of Stranraer. I assume it was from that terminal
