Wow I can’t lie this new Ash makes that Evil Dead 2 Ash look terrible, what a headsculpt. Already got the Ash vs Evil dead version (also has incredible face sculpts) and hoping they do a new Ultimate Evil Dead 2 version, so I can’t fully justify getting this, don’t really want to double up on characters on my display, but man I’m thinking about making an exception for this one and putting it somewhere else or vice versa. Great review man as always! You’re the absolute go to!

I just picked this figure up today! Love it honestly. As much as I’d love an evil dead 2 ash, I couldn’t get past the head sculpt of it. Hope Neca does an ultimate evil dead 2
First time The Evil Dead came on my radar was Halloween night of 1993. I was going to a party with a buddy of mine and happened to catch about 10 minutes of the movie on basic cable, which means it was heavily edited for content. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the rawness and made a mental note to watch the entire movie. Classic!
the other head sculpts for the ED2 ash look much better than the one you were showing, plus the ash vs evil dead figure sculpts were amazing. and my target was finally getting these in yesterday (I got mine off the target website during haulathon). the only thing I woulda changed is giving the hand meant to hold the axe a vertical hinge so you could more easily get the figure to rest the axe on his shoulder to emulate the classic box art pose.
Great sculpt, but without even a bit of blood or sweat look to the figure, it just feels so... eh. I mean yes, Ash does avoid violence more in the first film, but he does eventually look messy in it. Missed opportunity to give us a blood-covered face from the end scene.
I like the number 1 favorite character Ash Williams from Evil Dead. That’s the best part of Ash Part 1 does have a scar on his chin in the first movie and series with head sculpts except for Ash Part 2 figure with head sculpts, I already watch the previous video back in last March & April. I kinda like the figure of Ash Williams from the First Evil Dead because I feel like young Bruce Campbell have scar chin same as the older one from Ash vs Evil Dead. I have 2 figures I have NECA Ultimate Ash Williams from AVED in 2018 or 2019 with no box on it but just delivered only and then I got NECA Ultimate Ash Williams Part 2 from ED Dead by Dawn back in Marc 29 on my birthday
Really hope Neca makes some more Evil Dead figures worth buying, I felt I regret buying this figure because of all the obvious flaws, but I still love it and would spend more money on more Neca figures 😺👍🏻 Also great review man!
Aside from the shirt being too bright, everything else about the figure is solid. The head sculpts are the best that I've seen on a NECA Ash Williams figure to date. Bruce Campbell's likeness is very accurate this time around. The overall sculpt, paint application and details are top notch. I like the accessories as well. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot!
I really hope they do release a separate ultimate evil dead 2 ash, and a separate ed deadite, with some extra goodies, maybe they could do a few of the other deadites, maybe even include some deadite heads from the remake, or just separate figures for the remake, but for the ultimate evil dead 2 ash, maybe he could have the chainsaw hand of course, the book of the dead with maybe a few new page's, definitely a boom stick, then maybe some brand new thing's, for the people that already got the 2 pack, i really wish I hadn't missed out on that one, but 300 bucks new minimum is not groovy, I would love to see more of the characters from some of these franchises to really set up some cool scenes, like the evil dead, and Friday the 13th especially, because we got all these amazing slasher Jason's and nothing for him to slash besides for random out of place figures, I think camp counselors with a change of cloth's, maybe some alternate heads or pieces that have wounds or damage, that are weapon specific, could be really awesome, that would definitely be worth a buy, and maybe they could include pieces of camp crystal lake,
This is not something I normally collect. I do like the Evil Dead franchise but I did not go out of my way to collect them. But after watching this video, and subscribing, I ran out to the local Target and found one. It really is a nice figure and will look good in my collection. Thanks for changing my mind!
The alternate heads don't really look like Bruce Campbell imo. The main head is pretty darned good. But I think it's primarily the paint that makes it look so much better than the older Evil Dead 2 figure.
Evil Dead 2 (1987) is a cool movie. But, but, but... The Evil Dead (1981) is The best horror film that i've seen it before. Is absolutely visualy, gory, Beautiful film. I love so much The Evil Dead. ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥

Finally got 1, actually picked up 2. Great figure. Picked up a reissue final chapter Jason voorhees and a reissue h2 retro cloth Michael Myers. Still haven't found an American werewolf in London Kessler werewolf , a miner, or elvira, but looking. Great review.
Since the game is out and army of darkness is fairly prominte in the game maybe we can get a knight ash and evil ash two pack. Even though evil dead 2 figures are older it would be nice bc we have the evolution. Evil dead, dead by dawn, army of darkness and ash vs. Idk thats just me
I think the first movie is better than the other two and the TV show I don’t know I was always fascinated with the first one and no mean to Ramble on too long like the figure a lot and if you go back and watch The movie he has a light blue shirt until like all the blood gets on him then it gets a little darker the shirt does

I wonder if NECA whatever make figures of a horror classic Syfi movie called bad taste?, that was directed by Peter Jackson who made the Lord of the Rings, it was his first movie he ever filmed, released Back in 1987 it was pretty good for an action horror B Movie.
Sorry...but I thought Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness SUCKED. You were right when you said ED1 was the first "cabin in the woods" horror movie. Well...maybe not the first, but the BEST. There is just something so raw, so primal about the first movie that the sequel (if you can call it that) didn't have. It was a case of...here Sam Rami...we will give you a butt load of money...make a bigger better version of the original. There is just so much good to be said about the creativity of low budget film making. More money equals more people to please and that kills an original vision. O.K. Time to put away my soap box. Loved the review, as always. Just saw this at my go to figure store and now gotta have it. Thanks. Cheers 😁😁😁
I'm totally missing something here... yes, the head sculpt is more "realistic", but I dont think it looks a thing, like Bruce... perhaps from a couple angles, maybe. I honestly think I like the 30th anniversary version better. It's far more animated, or stylized looking, but I think the likeness to Bruce Campbell, was far more present, in the 30th... even if stylized. But, to each their own. If you think the newer one looks like Bruce more, I wont argue. Just wanted to give my personal opinion. Sik

The head was made by Trevor Grove, a sculptor Neca has used for recent releases, he is outstanding, that's why the diference is so noticeable.

You’re darn right about those handles being really breakable. I had to glue my leather faces chainsaw handle twice!
For pure horror - The Evil Dead is unbeatable..
Love the other two, but for me it’s the original.

Though I agree that the sculpting of the head is better looking, I think he bears more of a resemblance to David Hasselhoff than Bruce... 😅
