I will always think of Skate 1's entire map as the best Skateboarding Game map of all time. I really hope for it to come to Session if custom parks ever came to console.
While I prefer skate 2's map, I think skate 1's was easily the most realistic. It really felt like skating your local town, especially with the backyard pools you could find
So sick. The first Skate has such an incredibly designed world. There’s an infinite amount of possibilities baked into the obstacles without them looking like ‘skate spots for a game’ vs a believable city. Jean Olives attention to detail in recreating that, even in the parts that aren’t direct recreations is the best I’ve seen from any Skater XL map, including the dev maps.
Exactly, was going to say this originally too. Obviously there were real life spots like EMB/Hubba Hideout/ect incorporated into the cities built, but it never looked like a skatepark, it looked like a real city and you had to use that skater mentality to seek out the spots yourself. I still find things I've missed 15 years later. I think with it being the first game, they had plenty of time to really fleshout the world of San Vanelona in the first game, where I'm sure they were in a rush in future games to meet a deadline.
@@letsplayclassicgames5024 Yes couldn't agree more. The first game felt like a real passion project by skaters. I also enjoy skate 2, but you can see the areas of the map that were changed were along the lines of Skate 3, where everything was unnecessarily bigger and like a 'fantasy' skate city. If you didn't know, San Vanelona was a mix of San Francisco, Vancouver and Barcelona - and I think taking such strong inspiration from real cities helped bring it to life compared to Skate 3 which feels like a nothing city. Making a sequel every year didn't help either.

I love this map and have fallen asleep with the controller in my hand 2 nights in a row after at least 5hrs and recently I have been lucky to play 20 mins max, I just had no inspiration to play and I am not into session personally. I am more addicted to this than I was to XL mall when it was in development and that is my all time fave map. I am a supporter just fyi. Just different name here. Keep up the hard work and I am hyped for the next update!
Everything looks great in Skate 1, except the lighting! I remember how good that game looked when it came out though. Bails look so dumb in Skater XL though
I play on Series X, but... I ordered a gaming rig last week, should arrive sometime next week and I can't wait to start playing all these custom maps and getting a stats menu :)

I hope SKATE 4 keeps it realistic, maybe even with a "hardcore" setting that emulated Skater XL's controls.
That would be epic, if Session can add Skate controls then surely Skate can add these sorta controls too

I wosh Skater XL was a little more arcardey vs so simulation. Is there a way to change it at all on the PS4? Its awesome but hard to get the hang of.
