  • Adam welcomes Professor Scott Galloway who introduces some divergent and compelling topics on what he thinks is the most powerful manipulation tool in America. They get into what defines masculinity today and the primary three reasons women are attracted to men.
Next, Adam welcomes comedian Jon Gabrus on the show to play a “Man-Child” themed round of the “Rotten Tomatoes Game”. Finally, Chris reports the news. They discuss comedian Paul Reuben aka Pee-wee Herman and his sudden passing, the nuances of the recent Cardi B concert fiasco, and a woman in Alabama who lied about being abducted.

College is more expensive due to the Federal government subsidizing it through the student loan system. End the federal student loan system. That will reduce the demand and therefore the cost the colleges will be able to charge. Allow student loans to be disscharged through bankruptcy. The market will adjust.
His solution is a typical progressive mindset. Government intervention causes a problem so the solution is more government intervention. When that causes more problems the solution will be even more government.

if loans can be discharged, then the school should be treated as a cosigner of every loan and the proceeds of the loan should be clawed back from the institution's assets by the bank. if the bank gets left holding the bag, the bank can go under, and then you and i know both gop and dem will rush to bail out the banks, like they always do when banks are irresponsible. definitely end the US dept of Ed, but the primary responsibility for any private loan defaults needs to lay on the student and school.

The big thing that changed in our state was with the governor elected in 2009. The law required teachers to contribute "more" to their healthcare... a sliding percentage depending on age. Prior to that, our low out-of-pocket benefits were part of our overall package, in lieu of higher pay. But skyrocketing insurance costs forced a compromise. The last I knew 5 years ago, a single plan deducted $420 a month from the employee's pay, and a family plan deducted $840.

The biggest reason college is expensive is because the government is in the student loan business. Getting easy money for school drives up the demand for school. More demand equals being able to charge a higher price. If the government got out of the student loan business then the amount of people who could "afford" school would drop and the schools would have to drop the price to attract students.

    • @zaddyjacquescormery6613
      @zaddyjacquescormery6613 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Did you know that the government’s cost of subsidizing education (which actually makes the government zero money-Sally Mae, Freddy Mac and banks are the only entities that actually profit) is greater than the total cost of all public school tuition? They ought to just make attending public universities free, which would actually save the government money. It would also increase competition among applicants, making the graduates higher quality in the process. More disinterested people would then be funneled into the trades, rather than going into school and accruing student debt because they simply didn’t know what they want to do with their life yet.

Look at the explosion in the number of administrators in both colleges and hospitals since the early 1980s while the number of doctors/nurses and Professors has remained level. The admins do not provide a service to the mission. They are often political payback jobs and may never actually show up at the institution.
For example, Joe Biden was technically a professor at U Penn for $1 million and never taught a class.

Interesting conversation, I agreed with Dr. Galloway on most points, however, he makes a fatal conceit when he proposes fixing the higher education cost crisis by giving more money to higher education. The reality is the only thing that will correct the hyperinflation of higher education is competition from non-traditional post-secondary skills grantors. Think Coursera, Udemy, etc. When people start voting with their tuition dollars to direct them somewhere else, then the problem will correct itself. Thinking the people who created the problem will solve it, is insanity.

When I politely decline, the man will revert to abusive behavior. He went from being extremely to suddenly projecting abusive comments. i.e. "You are ugly" "What a bitch" etc ... Everyone PLEASE do your homework on Leer Capital. These guys are advertising on every conservative channel and use fear to drive sales. Very high commission rates also. Just please do your due diligence before handing over your hard earned money to these people.

I think you are missing the military option for individuals who are "direction less" . Get money for college and / or select a trade within the military. Will also get immature individuals grow up. I know this worked for me.

I was 18 in 1990 turning 19 in March. I was not reminded frequently in high school that I was of interest from women.
This was completely the opposite after high school. Now 10th thru 12th grade all I did for the majority of my time awake, was play guitar, practice guitar. It was the only thing that I thought about, getting good, or trying to be one of the best guitarist possible, still do at 52. But from 19 to 45 ,was incredibly simple when being attractive to females. The ages of 18 to 25 was a constant reminder of how many young ladies will make the time to get naked for undetermined amount of time. All without the internet. But a car and a landline will be to your advantage. In 1990 ,any car will do.

This was probably the best episode I’ve seen in a long time. S Galloway’s segment was so informative. I don’t have kids so I didn’t realize how ridiculously expensive it was to go to college today. And how difficult it was to get in to these gilded palaces. I earned a college degree in the early 80s and am now retired. If I was young today, I would definitely go into the “trades” and come out with the ability to make good money with no significant student debt.
PS enough of the shitty comedians and the redhead whores.

Honestly, how has Carolla been doing radio and media for 20+ years without learning that the singular form is “synopsis,” not “synopses,” and “hypothesis,” not “hypotheses?”
    This drives me INSANE.

It's odd that Adam doesn't recognize how music (and most likely, arts in general) impacts students' - and boys' - education. I taught Art to 10,000 mostly minority K-12 students over 36 years. Once all the shop classes were removed, Art (and music in many ways) was the ONLY "hands-on" class left that reinforced visual and tactile problem solving skills. Students were able to create something from nothing.

Really enjoy Scott Galloway's perspective. He's great on The Pivot podcast with Kara Swisher also. Although I'm still not quite sure how he became so successful in the tech world considering he only got into UCLA on appeal. Was grad school at Berkely just the right time & place to launch a successful startup? He's also absolutely correct about the online dating math game for young men. I'm not even sure today's women want or need a man in their life.

Good show. Adam can be hard funny without facts, Scott can be hard truthful without being funny. I like them both. I am not sure if Adam wants more of that on his show, but if he wants to be taken seriously he should.

More cadillac man, haha... I mean, I was like 12 or 13 about the time Cadillac man would be on TV, and I remember liking it, but I don't know if it would hold up, haha. Apparently not, but if Adam keeps going on about it, I might have to watch it again.
