100% agree with your review. I bought 5 of the blaster boxes which I quite like the vintage paper grade for that vintage look but that's about it. Had also 1 packet of the Deluxe Utra-Premium thinking I was going to get a lot more than just 7 cards. The advertising was confusing not knowing exactly what you get in each of the offerings. My cousin had bought the box and no, he doesn't look like he's going to pull that guaranteed metal card. Thanks for the review, been waiting a long time for someone other than an Australian to comment. Seems like all the other TF commentators are very silent or just doesn't care about this release.
@@ZeroInCypherOut I am not going to lie about things. I am a collector myself. I spend my own money to purchase my items. I feel like as a community of collectors we should look out for each other. I feel they kept all the information minimal and purposely made it confusing. The most disappointing thing for me is after spending thousands of dollars, I did not get a single Bob sketch card not even from the box toppers that were supposed to have a guaranteed bob sketch card.
Thank you for the thorough video. I'm a Kickstarter backer and I already feel like this set is just straight up false advertising. All the advertising indicated the base set would include a variety of art from box art to comic art to original art. This is just box art, and the connecting cards with the dumb repeated border that ruins the image. It was utterly confusing to try to figure out what to order, and now I find out after release that the wax set, hobby set, and ultra premium set are all just the same cards with different card stock? Then to see damaged cards straight out of the pack, missing guaranteed hits, and the unacceptable worse looking "ultra premium" art. This is a fiasco. I would be livid if I had ordered the full ultra premium case that you opened. And to add insult to injury, Dynamite just ignores all questions from Kickstarter backers on the campaign. I feel robbed.
@@HughMcKinney yep! I emailed them about my 12 missing box toppers and I have not heard back from them. Judging how the backers are being treated on kickstarter I do not expect to hear back from them anytime soon. That is if they are going to do anything about my missing “guaranteed” box toppers.
Just started watching and, as she goes on to explain, the deluxe inners where you get 1 foil pack of 7 cards at the beginning of this video cost in the neighborhood of $150US each, or $250AUD in my neck of the woods. In other words, they are ridiculously expensive.
And at that price point (and I'm not even 10 minutes through this video), it's staggering to note so much damage on those cards. Edit: Gotten through to the end of the video and props for all the work you've put into this, you really know your stuff. I've opened three hanger boxes and two individual foil packs, and can only echo your sentiment (had I spent anywhere near that much money, I'd be well pissed). General consensus is they really dropped the ball on this release.
@@Venturai Thank you! Yes absolutely! Being a collector I had high hopes for this special 40th anniversary set. They delayed the release a few times. Now looking at the artwork and quality of these so called premium trading cards, it is enraging and disappointing. They used all existing artwork! You don’t get anything new! Not to mention all the misinformation and false advertisement regarding the non existent box toppers ,no Bob sketch cards and no G1 voice actors involvement. They didn’t just drop the ball they shattered it into a million pieces. This was clearly a money grab.
@@g1divastator Indeed, as a fellow collector, this is a real kick in the gut for fans of the franchise. I have a hobby box coming and a few more hanger boxes left to open but I can't not admit to being terribly disappointed. The puzzle pieces don't work because of those logos on every card, and there are some bizarre character choices (and omissions). Frenzy has two cards with the same artwork but different blurbs (42 and 68), and Trailbreaker is misspelled on his own card 33 - it all reeks of lacklustre quality control; a money grab, like you said. There's visible scuffing on the cards in those expensive deluxe boxes (that were opened carefully, I might add), most clearly are not getting their 'guaranteed' metal card in the hobby box (I certainly do not expect to), and the Kickstarter backers who helped to pledge over 14 times the original goal are clearly being treated like second-rate citizens. This is shameful stuff.
@@g1divastator I think TH-cam deleted my initial reply, but have to concur these things are a real disappointment for fans of the franchise. Quality control issues are rife - Frenzy has two cards (42 and 68), Trailbreaker is misspelled on his own card... I don't doubt there are many more examples. To be pulling damaged cards from carefully opened premium-priced packs is inexcusable, as is so many not getting their 'guaranteed' metal card with the hobby box. Really looking forward to your follow-up video on the Kickstarter project, but from what I've seen and the comments I've read, the backers have been treated like second-class citizens. Shameful.
@@mrmcscuffles7592 The box topper is not something you pull. It's like a Promo. You do not have to pull it from the foil packs. It is supposed to be on the top of the box when you open it. That's why it is called a box topper.

I do believe the 1st sketch card in that one pack is mirage

Yes very disappointing. Hopefully they will be more premium with the Kickstarter set. Look forward to that review.
