There is no civilisation when it comes to such stupidity. When people assist you marketing you become foolish. I have been in Burundi and they try to find any small thing to extort money from you. I stood there till they left. they searched our bags. it was the worst welcome I had ever received in a country. I was coming from Rwanda which I never experienced any challenges for the 21 days I was there. another time in Burundi the police harassed my friend for having dreadlocks, we were in a restaurant he started to harass us until the restaurant owner tried to protect us. A friend also got arrested in Burundi for taking a photo in the city centre in Bujumbura.

I live in Burundi that place is called the central market which burned down in 2012 around July. The reason there are so many police officers is that back in 2019 people used to come to those bus line-up and throw grenades so when they see someone filming, the first thing that comes in mind is that you are recording the scene for the purpose of getting how the police guard the place and send the footage to the terrorist group for them to plot an attack but you did not know and that is not how it should be but hard times require hard decisions.

Happened to us we were at kigobe hotel it is actually located in street where lives some generals one of us took just a picture of the hotel but while taking picture there was a body guard of one of general sitting around there.they started accusing us that we are spires from rwanda.but what is easy there when u have money every thing is possible after like 5 hours we gave them 400000 Burundian and we took back our I phone. They did not even delete the video from your camera. Those who understand the conversation understand that it was matter not holding you documents on you and not having authorization. Not all east African countries speak Swahili. Like in Uganda, they don't speak Swahili. Swahili is purely spoken in Kenya and Tanzania and part of Congo , DRC only.

Happened to us we were at kigobe hotel it is actually located in street where lives some generals one of us took just a picture of the hotel but while taking picture there was a body guard of one of general sitting around there.they started accusing us that we are spires from rwanda.but what is easy there when u have money every thing is possible after like 5 hours we gave them 400000 Burundian and we took back our I phone. Those guys made our travel ridiculous
