What a wonderful show. BADONG! It took me until my 30s to learn how to love the little kid version of me, after realizing that I had protected myself to survive through hating, rejecting, blaming her- believing she was shit, _she_ was the problem, because that was what made sense, that’s all I ever learned growing up. It was easier to believe that they were right. I felt all this pain and anger and it had her face, I blamed her for being the one that gave it to me it, hated her for letting it happen. I thought if I could get rid of her I could be stronger, more lovable, better. I was just so desperate not to _be_ her anymore, not to _feel_ that fire in my throat, that tsunami at my back that scared me because I always felt like if it got out, it would take me and everyone around me under. I wasn’t wrong about the fire tsunami. I struggled a lot in my twenties. I figured some things out around 30, and constantly since, that have been vital in accepting, loving and being my authentic and best self. I still feel things too strongly, and I wrestle with self cruelty all the time. But I’ve come so far, I’ve really made progress, (huge parts due to painting while listening to audiobooks like the 4 agreements and the war of art) and I can count everything back to a starting point: the day that I forgave, accepted, and embraced the child version of myself. I realized that she -was- *is* worthy of love, and respect, and happiness. I am still working on believing that she -was- *is* a valid human being. And so it goes. This reminded me of that. I wish I had a name to call her- I grew up in a Filipino household for many years but I don’t think I ever got a cool nickname. 🤷🏼♀️ BADONG! Love yourself, you are amazing, this was truly beautiful. I’m not crying you’re crying
As a Malaysian watching this, you're making me laugh my ass off at that part where you talk about the segment where u have to act as the king of Malaysia😂😂 Kudos to u, James! You did really well❤ Please do come visit and do a show at Malaysia too
@@roquecomedy it tickles me that I cannot find one comment about ‘white face’ Ha ha ha. That was the first thing I noticed, and I couldn’t even get a good look at your costumes because my eyes kept going back to the ultra light face make up. Genius.
Hey James, I have trouble paying attention to things for extended periods of time. But this was really good and your energy is entertaining. I watched the whole thing in a row. Thank you, Badong.
found u on ig thru reels and HAD to check out the free show. hope u get to come over to the us !!! the opener had me down fr, great work kuya badong !!! (my filo nickname growing up was momo!)
Badong! Ana galing nang level of wit ng comedy mo dude! There is something wrong with this crowd but youare killing it! Galing ng set, cant' wait formore of your content!
I enjoyed this so much! Especially as a raised in a Filipino household here in the states. I hope you get to tour this over here man. I'll make the trip just to see it
Glad I saw one of your reels in IG. You're shit is fire "dong" not literally but this set its like a trevor noah, hassan minaj and jokoy mixed together. Keep it up "insong" nga pala ng Marikina hehe
This was so great!! I saw on instagram that you're in Toronto now, if you ever come out west to Vancouver I hope you post a lot about it so I can go see your show ! Awesome stuff dude
Please let me know if you ever come to Oahu Hawaii to perform stand up. My beautiful Filipino wife and I will be front row. P.S. The Blue Note is a good venue to book at. 🤙
This is not a comedy. This is pep talk. Your motivational speech inspires me to be proud of my accent who just moved here in NZ since Dec. 2023. Hope we will meet you in person.
World class comedy. I grew up in Auckland and was the token white kid in a group called 'The Asians'. In high school, I'd get made fun off for my white person lunch alongside other white person things. I was so jealous of my friends with their noodles and rice and felt very self-conscious eating my peanut butter sandwich lmao. Thank you so much for sharing your story
Really well done;the Outro skit and photo diary were surprisingly charming. And, Oh my gosh, I don’t pay much attention to the credits nowadays because I’m too busy multitasking other things but I knew that there was something important in yours and so I spent a good 10 minutes scrolling back and forth thru the timeline on my tiny tablet and angrily cursing my big 6’1” Amazon girl hands for the poorly orchestrated fat-fingering. (Of course I know I should not be so hard on myself. My hands are perfect at basketballs, hockey sticks, steering wheels, boxing rings, and power tools lol.) well, I’m glad that I did follow my instincts and I was pleasantly surprised by your closing credits. Is there a very clever and heartwarming at the same time? Thank you for the smiles in my otherwise movie of the week horror story type life.
My older sister her real name is Robyn, but in our family her nickname is Bujoi, apparently Bujoi is a character from I think it’s a movie or a tv show, and we just can’t find that show or movie wherever Bujoi came from
Hi kuya james! aka badong, i find your videos very interesting and fr i watched it first time in tiktok and y'know t'was only a short clip so i managed to find it here in yt hahaha.
