    i had the pleasure of visiting this mans parents in their school in oct.1975 in hk.
    they were in their 80s at the time i think.
    they were strong,healthy and two of the nicest people u could meet.

    The form uses the 12 bridge hands of Hung Gar. With each of these 12 bridges there are different sounds used,which evoke different emotions that effect specific organs and belong/correspond to a certain element.The different sounds used facilitate breath control and allow chi to be moved through 12 main channels (also connected with specific organs) to the intended part of the body in order to achieve maximum effect from each of the 12 Bridges.Hence the laughter, as well as anger, surprise ect..

    iron wire form is a very advanced training set in the hung gar style which harnesses a great deal of internal energy and cultivates the entire body inside and out by strengthening the rooted power, body connection and fluidity of movement.

    Sorry to have to make this correction. This is NOT Tid Sin (Iron Wire). This is the opening of Ng Ying (Five Animals
    or Shapes). The first part is similar to Tid Sin up to just before where Chiu Sifu starts stepping.

    Yes, I like the emotion in his Kata. Stepped out of the Box you might say. I think this man is definitely a Master at the Art. We can all learn from this Form if we look closely.

    Whats the secret that makes Hung Gar fighter that strong?
    Taking a closer look onto this form, you see a part of it. The finger-techniques remember me the Biu-Tse form from WingTsun, but the breathing-(and-smiling-and whistling) exercises, together with the compression and jumps are unique. Have never seen these refinements in any other style.

    Correct..In demos..No one performs the entire iron wire set. One reason..it takes too long. Another, they don't want it entirely recorded and stolen.

  • @samuski36
    @samuski36 14 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @MrHarrismarcel No, the reason they call it Hun Gar is because it is the fist (gar) style of the Hung family, same goes for Lao gar or Hop gar etc. But your observations of the controlled breathing and hand motions, and blocking power were all good ones! :) This guy is one of the top practitioners of the Hun gar lineage alive today!

    Tend to find that this exercise alone builds up aggression, i'd reccomend doing silk reeling from Qi Gong afterwards aswell.

    The way he laughs is actually somewhat intimidating and creepy.

  • @MrHarrismarcel
    @MrHarrismarcel 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the reason they call it hung gar is that the controlled breathing and the fist movements like the wave of the hands help block by hurting the other fighter. this art of gungfu takes a long time to master. It will take the day you started to maybe a lifetime to master.

    @samuski36 i know what hung gar is it is normally called 洪家拳. I'm studying with my sifu Mr. Eddie lane. under a year and i still have many years to go to remember all the sets. I'm also learning Chinese mandarin as a third language. and yes chiu chi lang is a good hung family specialist. my observation is because i study a lot. if I'm to learn 洪家拳. i am to learn everything Chinese about it.

  • @samuski36
    @samuski36 14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @MrHarrismarcel Nice! Sorry but I can't read Chinese characters :) I took hung gar for only 4 years, and I found that the sets are easy enough to remember. The hard part for me was developing power and applying technique, especially sparring against someone faster and stronger! However, I also cross trained in wing chun, and together they make me feel much more confident of handling myself on the street if need be! Best of luck to you and your studies!

    It's a "hard" internal set designed to develop muscle and breath originally developed by a dude nicknamed "Iron Bridge 3" (iron bridge refers to the forearms).

    Anyone familiar with the Chiu Chi Ling Lineage? I'm currently studying Tang Fong Hung Ga and i was wondering if there way any specific reasons that the Chiu Chi Ling's begin there forms standing without being in a stance? it looks less sturdy when executing techniques than if they were standing in crane stance.
    If anyone knows, i'd appreciate a response.
    thanks!

    @Bikat0ru Yeah, they are! I'ts partly a direct result of the form he does here, thus the name, Iron wire, referring to the bones in the arms being like iron wires, or like rebar in concrete. He might as well have baseball bats for arms Lol

    I'm not familiar in this style, but fyi, there r a lot of martial arts that gain their source of power from other than muscle. When one think of a martial art form, he is thinking of combat form, but a lot of martial arts forms r for practice inner energy, the movements and the emotions (noticed that he laughed for couple of times) r used to direct that energy to where it should be. (by saying energy, I think that it's Chi).

    This is a purely internal form. The noises he makes are to stimulate his internal, regulate his breathing and replicate the characteristics of animals. It's the last form of the hung system (some systems have 5 animals) and like i said it's purely internal and no joke. If you do this form properly on a regular bases your power will become something else.

    It looks funny to the untrainned eye. iron Wire isn't a style based on cool moves.. Actually what it is creating an internal power to external strikes. (chi is being used) if you don't believe chi it is basicly then a way to sthreghten attacks and blocks.

    I'm from a different lineage of Hung Kuen, however, someone commented "not good" I would not say Master Chou Wire form is not good... I would say the quality of execution is different because of his age and level of understanding of the form and what is going on internally. Comparing his form from his younger days to his demos later in life there is a clear diference.
