ABC Television in Australia showed a good few BBC and ITV programmes, as evident in the programme line-up, with Never The Twain (Thames Television), Porridge (BBC) and The Spanish Civil War (Granada Television).
The times before where ABC went lefty, weak and commie. That concept wouldn't arrive until the early 90's so ABC were still semi nationalist and neutral back then. Providing once great children's educational/edutainment and neat shows for teenagers as well. Not to mention lastly that they once provided news in which they encouraged the viewer to think and make up their own minds over a story rather than lambasting non-critical think speech of now.
The ABC board and management is stacked with former Liberals and former Murdoch employees. There have even been calls for it to start broadcasting commercials. How the hell did it go to the left?

Colonial thinking was still there, even under Labor in the 80s.
@@danielcherriomkins5280 Nothing to do with Colonial thinking, the ABC still screens mostly British productions, nothing has changed.
@@theyellowlightsaber3193 Even if Australia gained independence, the queen in London remained its head of state. So there is still coloniality.
@@danielcherriomkins5280 wrong, its not a colony its a country mate
They even had the Australian rights to Monty Python's Flying Circus (BBC) as well as The Goodies (BBC-later ITV) before the latter moved to Channel 7.
