    I lived in that region for a very short period; upper middle plains, and the only time of the year to go riding up that way is during rainy season, or up until around December. After that the burning goes onto the next rainy season. I was watching your videos a few years ago, and quite like them. I know this is 3 years old now, but look forward to more.

      I couldn't agree more about the narrow window for riding in that part of the world. I recently cycled from Korat to Mae Sai in the last week of December and that was as late as I would ever do that ride because of burning. I am currently back in the UK to escape the pollution.

    Amazed by all these closed hotels while they are still so accessible and while they are still equipped with plenty of accessories and stock. Very strange ... Fully understand the decision to call it a day for the moment. Amazing job riding during that heat and pollution!

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read last week in the Bangkok Post that occupancy rates in the north are just 4.1%. That figure is insane! Even in the busiest areas in the south it's no more than 20%. A video out today with a local ride just an hour from where I live. Hope you enjoy it. Stay safe.

      @@Biking360 wow, that’s enormous, those figures… We love to visit Thailand again. Such a beautiful place, great food and such lovely and friendly people. The sooner the better I’d say!

    That's a shame. Not only because your trip has been shortened but that such a beautiful area, and the health of its citizens, is being spoiled by the pollution. Still in all, have very much enjoyed your videos.👍🚴‍♂️

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank Richard. Now, I see the current situation as an opportunity to explore and video my local area. There are two national parks within my province and plenty of other places I think people would be interested to see. I'll still be posting regularly and once Covid becomes less of an issue I'll be back to the north and other areas of Thailand. Stay safe. Jay

      Yeah, it gets real had here during burning season. Chiang Mai is now frequently the most polluted city in the world. Bonkers!! Hope your ride is still going well. Jay

    Nice countryside but it did look hot. Temperatures above 40 and the pollution,
    not ideal for biking. The trip further on toward Chang Mai would have been
    difficult with those pollution levels.
    Deserted hotels with nobody about is quite strange. Still you didn't seem to find
    a coffee shop this time.

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The temperatures were hard to handle. I'll look out for a coffee shop and my net local ride. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Stay safe. JP

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pollution and Covid are an arse but you just have to get on with it. However, I've just got back in the house from an awesome ride close to home, so things are good :)

  • @cyclingharrisburgpa
    @cyclingharrisburgpa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    another great vid JP, stay safe out there... truely sad about the pollution's effects, such a beautiful place, would be nice if that could get sorted... btw, all the deserted hotels and facilities you come across is crazy, you ever say screw it and just stay at one?

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pollution here is a real arse and it's the same every year during burning season. Next year I plan to do a tour in the south where things are not so bad. I love your suggestion of staying in one of the deserted hotels. That's something I should definitely do :)

    Wow, a side to the country I wasn't aware of. Health is paramount so best your back home, 440k ish from where you were ( google maps) ? Enjoy some downtime and I'll look forward to seeing some more stunning scenery very soon. (9 degrees near Hull today) 👀
    Cheers Graham.

  • @BluecollarBackcountry
    @BluecollarBackcountry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's such a shame that such a beautiful country has to deal with the pollution but that's the way of the world I guess. It's weird how they just abandon a motel and leave it open like that. I remember you showing another abandoned motel like that a few videos back. Vandalism in the states is so bad they would have been destroyed if left open here. Take care Jay. Atb, Tony

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the pollution thing is awful. As far as leaving things open, this is one of the safest places I know. Theft is so, so rare and vandalism unheard of. It's a huge plus for living here.

  • @Osteoandyogi
    @Osteoandyogi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate that’s a shame but still a lovely place for some day rides, I was in Chiang Mai, for the brining season…and unless you’ve seen and experienced it people don’t get how bad it is…..stay well and chin up….🚴🏼‍♂️

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you're right about having to experience burning season to truly understand how bad it is. I'm off on a local ride tomorrow so looking forward to that. JP

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree completely. The pollution at that time was crazy. However, I'm planning to go back to Uttaradit in September to resue the trip. I should get there before the burning season and there should be clean air. Thanks for watching and commenting. It's appreciated. JP
