C'est le meilleur video sur Sintra que je connais et qui capture vraiment un peu de la magie de cet endroit (couvre avec sensibilité les palais de la Pena, Regaleira et son puis initiatique, Monserrate, le château des Maures, la vegetation dans la montagne, Queluz et son charmant petit jardin.Tout avec seulement de la musique et une brume nostalgique comme mieux convient à Sintra. .
My sweet 91 year old mother is enjoying your video at the moment. She lived quite a long period of her life in Sintra before departing to the Netherlands where we live at the moment. My sister was born in the pink building next to the Palacio da Vila. It was an hospital at the time. She's very proud about that. My sister tells this to everyone who wants to know about it and even whomever do not what to know about it 😅😂

I traveled a lot, only inside Portugal and Spain tho, but Sintra is my favorite place in the whole Iberian Peninsula. The word may be overused but it's indeed magical, only way to feel it it's to go there a day or two. It's a bit too crowded with tourists during the Summer and things are a bit overpriced but still worth it by far.

Thanks for reminding us of the absolutely gorgeousness of Sintra. My 1st time to Sintra & Pena Palace, was a long, long x ago. I was 5 years old. My parents decided it was a good idea and aid to digestion (after our lunch) to walk from the train station all the way thru the mountain, thru the meandering trails. We got lost, and it took us 3 hours of beautiful, but exausting meandering before we got to the top, thanks to a local gentleman that helped us get on track. We nearly missed the Palace's last guided tour of the day. Hardly anybody around back then, even for a Sunday. It was all pretty much all to ourself. Never forgot the experience, and Sintra stays forever in my ❤️. It's one of 🇵🇹 gems, with so much to see and explore. Great work POV! 😘❤️🇵🇹❤️

Silva! 😊😊 Haha your parents had a great idea, the best way to immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of Sintra is to walk up the mountain to Moors Castle and/or Pena Palace. 😀 The good old days when Sintra was a quiet town...It was temporarily quiet again during the pandemic, but now it's back to "normal". I still love Sintra though, and my video doesn't do it justice. It's so much better in person. 😊 Thank you for your lovely comment!

Sintra es una verdadera joya por su magia, su belleza, sus calles intrincadísimas ,sus lugares icónicos. Yo estuve pero este lugar es inacabable y solo concí por dentro el Palacio da Pena, comí de las queijadas ,cené en un lugar precioso . Pero quedé con ganas de conocer la Quinta das Regadeiras y el Palacio Real o sea que me quedó mucho para conocer y tambien reconozco que en un video no se puede poner todo. Es demasiado pero es un lugar que vale el esfuerzo y ahora no puedo hacer esa viaje otra vez, o sea que les pido un nuevo video, cuando se pueda. Los hacen muy especiales, da la sensación de estar "ahi".Gracias!!!
Te recomendo el video Palaces and Gardens of Sintra-Portugal, que acabé de conocer y que, complementando este, me parece el mejor que he visto sobre Sintra (por lo menos visualmente). Cubre el Palacio da Pena, la Regaleira y su pozo iniciático, Monserrate, el castillo de los Moros, la preciosa vegetación de la sierra y un poco más lejos el Palacio de Queluz. Todo esto envuelto sólo en música y una nieblacita nostálgica como conviene à la magia romántica de Sintra.

Boas, cheguei a Sintra em 1974 com 9 anos de idade, de férias com os meus pais e irmã, as férias prolongaram-se até hoje, agora com 57 anos. Aqui cresci, andei na escola, depois veio o liceu. Esta Vila (sim Vila) que não quer subir a cidade para não perder o seu encanto, aperfilhou-me, viu-me crescer, moldou o homem que sou hoje. Com os amigos da juventude a percorrer os vários "locais de culto" desde S. Pedro até à Vila Velha, grandes tertúlias se fizeram neste cantinho. Como capital do romantismo conheceu todas as minhas conquistas (poucas mas boas), foi testemunha e confidente dos meus namoros por todas as vielas, becos, escadinhas e miradouros e em todas as alturas do ano, com sol, chuva, frio, calor (mais ou menos, a coisa aqui não aquece muito na verdade) e nevoeiro (MUITO). Sempre linda, maravilhosa, mistica a "minha" Vila de Sintra! Quero agradecer ao canal este video sobre a Vila que tanto amo. Bem hajam!

The Knights Templar are at the heart of the foundation of Portugal, helping to fight the Muslims. Later, when the Pope decided to dissolve them, they maintained their existence in Portugal for many centuries under a different name: Order of Christ ("Ordem de Cristo"). This order financed the Portuguese maritime expansion. That is why the sails of the Portuguese caravels displayed a red cross: the symbol of the Templars / Order of Christ.
The Infante D. Henrique, the Navigator, was Grandmaster of the Order of Christ (so the Order was controlled by the royal family). But yes, it was a partnership, between the Crown and and the Order of Christ (former Templars) and the rest of the nobility and the church, but also in partnership with the new bourgeoisie and traders class that also invested their own money and saw the profits in their investments. It was, in the end, a common endeavor, wanted by all the portuguese society, although the initial push made by the Order of Christ, together with the portuguese Crown, were very important, specially in the beguining.

Great video. I have been a traveler most of my life. As I am not in my 70s I don’t travel so much because it’s just more difficult then before. Of course Covid didn’t help much. Hopefully that goes the way of the dinosaur. Although I was born in Germany I never traveled around Europe much. I’ve been in the airport of a few European countries but never visited other than Germany. I’m regretting that I didn’t put Portugal and Spain on my list. Im certainly going to make this a bucket list destination.

Thanks for reminding us of the absolutely gorgeousness of Sintra. My 1st time to Sintra & Pena Palace, was a long, long x ago. I was 5 years old. My parents decided it was a good idea and aid to digestion (after our lunch) to walk from the train station all the way thru the mountain, thru the meandering trails. We got lost, and it took us 3 hours of beautiful, but exausting meandering before we got to the top, thanks to a local gentleman that helped us get on track. We nearly missed the Palace's last guided tour of the day. Hardly anybody around back then, even for a Sunday. It was all pretty much all to ourself. Never forgot the experience, and Sintra stays forever in my ❤️. It's one of 🇵🇹 gems, with so much to see and explore. Great work POV! 😘❤️🇵🇹❤️
Hello M. Silva! 😊😊 Haha your parents had a great idea, the best way to immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of Sintra is to walk up the mountain to Moors Castle and/or Pena Palace. 😀
The good old days when Sintra was a quiet town...It was temporarily quiet again during the pandemic, but now it's back to "normal". I still love Sintra though, and my video doesn't do it justice. It's so much better in person. 😊

@@Alfablue227 I still remember the days when I could visit the Quinta da Regaleira and it would be almost completely empty! 😊But it's good to have tourism, brings more money into the town, the buildings are well-maintained, everything looks nicer.

Sintra es una verdadera joya por su magia, su belleza, sus calles intrincadísimas ,sus lugares icónicos. Yo estuve pero este lugar es inacabable y solo concí por dentro el Palacio da Pena, comí de las queijadas ,cené en un lugar precioso . Pero quedé con ganas de conocer la Quinta das Regadeiras y el Palacio Real o sea que me quedó mucho para conocer y tambien reconozco que en un video no se puede poner todo. Es demasiado pero es un lugar que vale el esfuerzo y ahora no puedo hacer esa viaje otra vez, o sea que les pido un nuevo video, cuando se pueda. Los hacen muy especiales, da la sensación de estar "ahi".Gracias!!!

Te recomendo el video Palaces and Gardens of Sintra-Portugal, que acabé de conocer y que, complementando este, me parece el mejor que he visto sobre Sintra (por lo menos visualmente). Cubre el Palacio da Pena, la Regaleira y su pozo iniciático, Monserrate, el castillo de los Moros, la preciosa vegetación de la sierra y un poco más lejos el Palacio de Queluz. Todo esto envuelto sólo en música y una nieblacita nostálgica como conviene à la magia romántica de Sintra.

Boas, cheguei a Sintra em 1974 com 9 anos de idade, de férias com os meus pais e irmã, as férias prolongaram-se até hoje, agora com 57 anos. Aqui cresci, andei na escola, depois veio o liceu. Esta Vila (sim Vila) que não quer subir a cidade para não perder o seu encanto, aperfilhou-me, viu-me crescer, moldou o homem que sou hoje. Com os amigos da juventude a percorrer os vários "locais de culto" desde S. Pedro até à Vila Velha, grandes tertúlias se fizeram neste cantinho. Como capital do romantismo conheceu todas as minhas conquistas (poucas mas boas), foi testemunha e confidente dos meus namoros por todas as vielas, becos, escadinhas e miradouros e em todas as alturas do ano, com sol, chuva, frio, calor (mais ou menos, a coisa aqui não aquece muito na verdade) e nevoeiro (MUITO). Sempre linda, maravilhosa, mistica a "minha" Vila de Sintra! Quero agradecer ao canal este video sobre a Vila que tanto amo. Bem hajam!

The Infante D. Henrique, the Navigator, was Grandmaster of the Order of Christ (so the Order was controlled by the royal family). But yes, it was a partnership, between the Crown and and the Order of Christ (former Templars) and the rest of the nobility and the church, but also in partnership with the new bourgeoisie and traders class that also invested their own money and saw the profits in their investments. It was, in the end, a common endeavor, wanted by all the portuguese society, although the initial push made by the Order of Christ, together with the portuguese Crown, were very important, specially in the beguining.

Great video. I have been a traveler most of my life. As I am not in my 70s I don’t travel so much because it’s just more difficult then before. Of course Covid didn’t help much. Hopefully that goes the way of the dinosaur.
Although I was born in Germany I never traveled around Europe much. I’ve been in the airport of a few European countries but never visited other than Germany. I’m regretting that I didn’t put Portugal and Spain on my list. Im certainly going to make this a bucket list destination.
