Rules of Rugby are very difficult to understand for most of the fans, and at times for the players as well. Add to the difficulty or the missery , every 6 months IRB is also changing the rules. Hence, the fans should not shout their breath out on the decisions of the Refree. I suggest that Thepapare conducts/ airs an awareness program on rugby rules , in all 3 languages, before and mid of the season. Lets enjoy this wonderful game. Cheers
Probably Vidyartha's best game so far in this season but lost all respect at the end. If you're given the chance to play in the elite tier then learn how to deal with losses as well.
Words and little fights happening are normal in a rugby match between two teams. Spectators should not involve in that. it's up to referees to do the relevant penalties for them.
Vidyartha school current rugby team has to be suspended and taken off.. I'm so upset cz 2 pathana boys are severely injured and hospitalised and in a serious condition.. I personally blame the school as those two who are injured have been beaten from the players of the game (from what I heard). I'm not from neither of this schools but we should have discipline no matter what

i think what went wrong for vidyartha was their defense and their fitness. most schools only work on attack and they don't work much on their defense patterns. vidyaratha players clearly seem fatigued in the second half. you cant give a team like isipathana time and space to run around and try to tackle them beyond the gain line. isipathana on the other hand has always maintained a high level of fitness and agility which allows them to play their signature running rugby. haven't seen any of these school teams use modern day blitz defense to disrupt the attack and haven't seen many teams using box kicking or any kicking game for that matter.

These people from Vidyartha looks a rowdy school when compared to kandy schools like Trinity St Anthony's and Dharmaraja This was shown when the match is concluded vidyartha players hammered the visiting Isipathana players and supporters mercilessly and several were hospitalized. The SLschools rugby Football union should penalized them for several years of playing school rugby IN future. Isipathana is a Colombo based leading school and No one have heard Vidyartha a school as a descent institution

Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association conducted an investigation on Isipathana players being assaulted by the Vidyartha players and spectators after the league match at Nittawela, Kandy. The captain of Vidyartha College Arosh Ratnayake found guilty and SLSRFA has banned him from the upcoming tournament (Knock-Out) organized by SLSRFA as it has been proved that the said player has been directly involved in this incident. Also few more players, S W S R L Kodithuwakku, R H M Thilakaratne, R G K K Wijeratne and H K K S Premaratne are sentenced a one-month ban and suspension of that sentence for up to six months from the date where the incident happened. Also both Isipathana and Vidyartha teachers in charge and principals have been warned by the SLSRFA to ensure such incidents will not repeat. Despite the above assault Isipathana won the league stage match against Vidyartha for 23-25 at Nittawela.

These people from Vidyartha looks a rowdy school when compared to kandy schools like Trinity St Anthony's and Dharmaraja This was shown when the match is concluded vidyartha players hammered the visiting Isipathana players and supporters mercilessly and several were hospitalized. The SLschools rugby Football union should penalized them for several years of playing school rugby IN future. Isipathana is a Colombo based leading school and No one have heard Vidyartha a school as a descent institution

Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association conducted an investigation on Isipathana players being assaulted by the Vidyartha players and spectators after the league match at Nittawela, Kandy.
The captain of Vidyartha College Arosh Ratnayake found guilty and SLSRFA has banned him from the upcoming tournament (Knock-Out) organized by SLSRFA as it has been proved that the said player has been directly involved in this incident.
Also few more players, S W S R L Kodithuwakku, R H M Thilakaratne, R G K K Wijeratne and H K K S Premaratne are sentenced a one-month ban and suspension of that sentence for up to six months from the date where the incident happened.
Also both Isipathana and Vidyartha teachers in charge and principals have been warned by the SLSRFA to ensure such incidents will not repeat.
Despite the above assault Isipathana won the league stage match against Vidyartha for 23-25 at Nittawela.

2001 Isipathana College, Colombo vs St. Anthony’s College Katugastota, Schools Rugby League Tournament Finals at CR & FC Grounds, Colombo.
St. Anthony’s College won the match (and became the Champions of the tournament) after a tense game. Soon after the final whistle was blown a section of the spectators went berserk by throwing around chairs and bottles. Pandemonium raged resulting in damages to property of CR & FC Grounds (including club house). However amidst the chaos in a sporting gesture both teams met inside the dressing room of the losing team to shake hands and embrace each other.

Spectators started throwing objects on to the playing field and referee was forced to call off the game. St. Peter’s College was leading at the time match was called off.
(Later St. Peter’s College was awarded the match by the Schools Rugby Association and they were scheduled to play the finals against Royal College at the Royal Sports Complex. However the final was suspended at the last minute by the authorities due to a court order obtained by Isipathana College. The two teams, St. Peter’s College and Royal College, however still played the game albeit as a friendly encounter, with St Peter’s College winning 29-27. After two years, the court case was dismissed and the two schools - St. Peter’s College and Royal College were jointly awarded the Schools Knockout Championship Trophy)
