There are a ton of great Doobie Brothers songs, but Pat Simmons was always my favorite writer in the band and this was probably his masterpiece.

This and "South City Midnight Lady", another Simmon's song from Doobie Brothers Capt and Me album. Such an excellent, melodic song!

The Doobie Brothers had a bunch of good songs, like this one. Next one to check out - Takin' It to the Streets or What a Fool Believes

. . so we get a ride to the Doobie's concert an hour away , from an older friend w/a station wagon. we're all in summer school w/the two skips behind us and there is no such thing as late. our ride ditches us and we had to break up into groups of two in order to hitch hike. we got rides from cops , hippies , people and we walked a lot. some rides would pick up our friends ahead of us but if not we'd just yell and bust on them as we rode by. we all met in our village as it was getting light out , too early for school and too late to go home.
Oh the concert ? it was awesome , we knew all the songs. peace. circa 70's

Wasn’t “Rock Around The Clock” one of the first songs that they labeled “this is Rock-and roll”. It came out in like 54’

The Doobies are a great live band! Saw them many years ago when they did a co-headlining tour with Foreigner and they were superb.
They have so many great songs - Taking It To The Streets, Listen To The Music, China Grove and Jesus Is Just Alright to name just a few

Hi Cheryl! Not their most well-known song. I wasn't sure I knew it. I do. Not from radio but it must be in a movie or tv show?

Very nice and mellow song. Doesn't sound familiar and didn't chart in the UK, but a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975. A bit early for me musically, my main musical and holiday memories around that time consisted of annoying most of Europe with some Suzi Quatro as a 12-year old pushing a few coins into a jukebox every time we stopped for lunch at a cafe someplace. Kids! Who'd have 'em?

    • @cherylreichardt
