    I see the point of samsara being pointless. And yet we have to take care of this world and the beings in it that need provisions. So maybe it's about using technology in a way that is helpful. Not being fooled by a belief that it can bring redemption. But also with thankfulness that it can be used as a means to help others. How about imagining a world in which no one starves and everyone has all needs met - while people are established on a path leading to true inner transformation.

      So true, you could live in a forest and just use what is available to you and with your hands and mind create, or create and use all manner of technological capabilities, I think it just boils down to intention and if all intention was a better world of abundance for All, to share with that intent then all aspire ascend rise together in betterment.

    Old taoist story I can't remember where I read it:
    A life of 80 years, 10 years as a child not knowing, 10 as a teen thinking you know, 40 years an adult working 8 hours a day, sleeping 8, 20 years of old age, sickness. Of the free time amongst it all, how much is spent with your mind full of anxiety for the future, regret for the past. Forgetting all that exists is the present moment.

    My family lives on a small farm from which we grow most of our own food, mostly using hand tools and manure from the animals we raise. This has allowed me to spend most of my time at home tending the farm and not out in "the world" chasing "samsara". Now "she" chases after me. Besides a prayer and meditation routine (I am a Christian), I find the physical labor demanding and engaging enough to allow any poisonous thoughts and feelings to come and go (for the most part). I came across your youtube channel as I am taking a day of rest. I really enjoy the content, but what really peaked my interest was seeing you at work in the forest. I wish for the love of god that before I die people would stop blaming capitalism on everything.
      Capitalism definition is the citizens owns and operates commerce.
      Socialism and communism is the state owns and operates commerce.
      Anything you add to those definitions is a projection. People blame everything on capitalism.

    • @galathoughtart
      @galathoughtart 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Westcoastrocksduh I think the point is that all systems have their problems. We had samsara in feudalism, socialism, communism, capitalism, and always. There is always birth, sickness, death, sorrow…it is inevitable.

    • @ultimatemeaning
      @ultimatemeaning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Westcoastrocksduh The notion that the (average) citizen is in charge of commerce is to me somewhat naive. That might be the principle but in practice this is clearly not the case.
      At any rate what I am pointing out here is that there is a paradox for the spiritual practitioner. For the worldly minded then capitalism is great.
      I am no economist but as far as I can see in practice capitalism necessitates growth markets. If this sounds untue then just imagine what would happen to capitalism if markets stopped growing. As resources are finite then ultimately this is untenable.
      But the point here again is about spiritual practitioners, and to them desire is poison, and our markets depend on stoking the flames of desire.

    "We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time."
    It seems that attaining the totally open spirit of a child, free from the wants and worries of the material world, is the challenge that faces us here - but somehow reaching it with the full mature awareness of an adult. But if we already started as that, why exactly are we going through this experience? When we die, all this data gets basically "cloud-stored", inaccessible to future incarnations. Only subtleties seem to pass on, in the form of wisdom, intuition perhaps? Some kind of upward growth, I hope. Which likely need some extremely specific genetic counterpart to be properly expressed. But how are they passed on exactly, how can we maximize the amount of this growth, and can we break the cycle altogether. And if so, how exactly does that work? =)
    I think an important element may be that "I", the person you think of as yourself in your waking state, is not the totality of you. It's likely a fragment of a larger conscious tapestry which is spanning multiple dimensions at once. The "I" that holds awareness in one state of mind could be watching a movie while a higher aspect of yourself, one you may have only experienced in a psychedelic state of mind or perhaps never, is having a conversation with your spirit guides, plotting future courses for yourself, etc.

      Love you thoughts! In the Buddhist perspective it is about conditioning or habituation. And it is this that passes from life to life. Accomplished masters are said to be able to access information from previous lives but this is extremely rare.

    Yes, the music industry is very worldly. And concept-based. I played jazz music. Sometimes I wonder how did this ''modern'' music became so mental-concept based, so intellectual ? To be honest little by little I'm leaving it all, for me it was a source of mental attachments, and a lot of inner stress. 6 hours of daily practice, 7 days a week, falling asleep while memorizing, visualizing chord progressions, standards, scales, modes, patterns, arpeggios, chord inversions and what not...
    There is no more fun left in it... music for me completely lost its meaning.. Jazz musicians call garbage everything that is simple, yet I have a very different opinion about it now...
    And sometimes I still have this mixed feeling within for leaving it behind.. I never felt so free for a long time, but I also feel some guilt for having spent so many years practicing these mental constructs and now throwing everything out, forgetting... feeling some kind of pain for ''loosing'' everything I've learned, you know ?
    Dude, I just want to plant some tomatoes, lay some bricks, cut a tree or something and have a free, empty mind.. It's such a relief after all...
    As a musician, have you experienced something similar ?

    • @ultimatemeaning
      @ultimatemeaning  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi my friend. My experience is similar. There is huge attachment to the life and work of a musician, and it was far more difficult to give that up then to give up drugs and alcohol. In the end it was only through necessity and the well-being of my children that I was able to leave it all behind.
      I have to say I am very inspired by the notion of free jazz, and some of the musicians that embodied what I see to be Jazz principles, but in practice I have found most Jazz practitioners to be hyper technical and parochial about their craft. Not much different from the classical scene.
      I also long for freedom, but I am wary of my own tendencies for escapism. I hope to use some of what I have learnt on the spiritual path to benefit other in what ever small way I can.

The fun and playful exploration of simple and powerful ideas has been replaced by towers of concepts, forever abstracting on top of each other. The worst part is that there are entire software industries that have ossified on top of these jenga-like abstraction towers and they are continuing to build on top of the fragile system, pointlessly and exponentially compounding the effort needed for newcomers to get up to speed.

      @@ultimatemeaning I might be the reincarnation of Gampopa, who knows? Well "The Four Dharmas of Gampopa" kinda give an overview on stuffs that similar to the process of my enlightenment. Maybe it's fate that it's come to this. With your reply here, I learnt that my understandings are quite similar to Tibetan Buddhism in a sense. It's like yoga + buddhism, but also Taoism.

    There is a scene in a movie I love.
    It's
    The man from lamancha
    Seeing the world as it should be not as it is.

      @@ultimatemeaning I live it .
      It's give yourself a quest
      Get a book full of ink a book full of blank pages the mission
      Put all the ink in the book
      But you can't do it yourself
      Then get people from all over the world with something positive in it , if they write in Japanese or German whatever tell them don't translate go walk untill you find someone who can, it teaches how to be open minded welcome stranger's and get out of
      Hell
      Just add O
      But it's so simple few know how or are willing to try or continue
      I have seven books I won't have eight.
