Did you see the machines in that place? where does all the energy to build maintain and operate all that equipment come from? That’s not mentioning the inputs for the bugs . Ideas aren’t good just because they’re new and groovie.
You need to see the competitors. Chickens cost 2x, pork costs 4x, beef costs 5x cost/land to produce. Insect farming is by far the most efficient means of animal protein production if you think about it.
@@ryo0ka936 I eat cows and pigs that live on weeds and the meadows they live in are still meadows after decades not bare soil strip mined with a plow to feed crickets 500 miles away. The other major issue is chitins which are harmful and even fatal to humans. There is no cooking them out of insects. It is understandable to use insects and a survival food in a pinch but this isn’t something to shoot for

Would you prefer deforesting the Amazon for soy feed for our chickens, or emptying or ocean of fish for fishing feed ? There can be multiple solutions to different scales our global climate and biodiversity issues. What you do locally is deeply important and actually you can do the same at a small scale to feed your pigs. But we need to be protein independent at all scales and detach of the current unsustainable exploitation of our natural resources
