Same got a 3070Ti 8gb and this update just destroys the framerate. Played Metro Exodus full graphics raytraying on worked no problem very little frame drops.
PSA: If you saved the game with all the raytracing options ON, then tried changing it on the Main Menu, the game will crash everytime you load that save that has Raytracing On. The fix is to re enable the raytracing options then load the game. Once in game, you can turn off the Raytracing Options without the fear of the game crashing
Opposite for me, had it in RT mode, saved, exited, then reloaded with RT and it crashes every time. Have to disable RT and keep it off, seems something broke RT for me. 6800xt so should be able to run GI in low FPS.

DX11 is also having problems, I play TW3 in the classic version with all the mods that were implemented above 70 fps with everything in ultra, now after this update the fps drops to 30-40 with an rtx 2060, for God's sake it is a game from 2015, they managed to break the game. (and of course, I'm not using ray tracing)
Yeah like the game looks much better but similar quality could be achieved with few mods on the previous patch. This feels like a joke I don't even know why would they release it in this state. Just say that you have problems porting it over to PC and release it in three months ...
Funny thing when witcher 3 was released i played it on my pc and had 0% issues while others couldnt played it. Sure i tweaked some thing here and there lowered shadows and turned off some options but the game still looked amazing :)
Nope. The problem is that a lot of people only played the witcher 3 and only after the fixes and don't know that CDPR have literally always released broken games.
I would say no they haven't lol. Maybe their Gwent game. I remember getting the first Witcher game it was a buggy mess on pc back in the day, I played Witcher 2 but not at launch so I don't know, Witcher 3 launched buggy so did Cyberpunk and now this next gen update has its issues although for me after playing for a bit the stutters have pretty much disappeared in the starting area.
Good for you, man. More people need to make videos like this. It's quite embarrassing that this remaster runs better on my PS5 than on my 3080 and R9 5900x.
But it doesn't, the ps5 drops on RT mode down to 25 fps and on performance mode it goes dow to 54 in certain areas. At least on this pc it is above 30 fps 🙃🤣
Thanks again for being the voice of reason Alex. It's really scary how much the "They'll fix it later" mentality has spread and became the norm. It doesn't have to be like that. It should never be like that.
Indeed, I always says when customers dont respect themselves as customers; companies wont either Cause the sad truth is that to many gamers are zombie consumers, this includes many respected gaming channels. Who publicly state they know its bad to pre order, pay for nonsense etc etc; and then turn around saying that they "just cant help themselves cause they are a fan". I know most woppnt agree with me but Im really hoping for a gaming crash as we've had in the past, cause this industry really needs a good shook up.
Perpetual CLOWN HOUSE IGN has just published an article called "The Witcher 3's Next-Gen Changes Signal Good Things for Series' Future" with a tagline that says "The signature CD Projekt Red polish is back." A satirical take, I really wish it was but nope.
Ya know, I thought out of all the games under CDPR's belt the one that put their name on the map they would treat with the utmost love and care. Especially since they had so much time to work on it while they fixed Cyberpunk and moved devs around as that game did get fixed, but I guess I thought a little to highly of them again. Its like Kratos said: Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed.
Tell that to Rockstar Games as well with their GTA Trilogy lmaoo. Nothing surprises me anymore in the videogame industry with all the top companies messing with the games that made them get to the top in the first place.

They should have left the game alone. It didn't need an "upgrade" And what's BS is that you're forced to download the "upgrade". One issue I'm having is music not working in some areas.
You're absolutely correct about CDPR. They should be crossed out of everyone's "Day 1 Hype" club for at least two games worth of redemption. A remake Witcher 1 being potentially done well will hardly count since it's mostly being outsourced to another developer.

Let this sink in, devs from a time with inferior technology (hardware and software), could design and optimize games better than devs today who have better and more advanced technology.
the most insane part is literally NO reviewers mentions a word about awful pc performance, only all around praises before launch, just like cyberpunk 2077 all over again
This transitional period from GeForce to Turing/Amphere/Ada has been pretty painful. We might have entered a realm of far too many GPU skews for porting alongside the console versions successfully at launch. Got to give mad respect for the Steam Deck effectively providing a low end baseline going forward if it continues to sell and gain popular momentum.
Actually the problem is trying to make a game engine written for DX11 work with DX12 which is a radically different API when it comes to CPU usage, memory usage and shader pipelines. Ubisoft has the exact same problem with the AnvilNext game engine in AC Valhalla but in their case it's a stability problem and the game crashes a lot. They also had a problem for nearly 3 months with mainly Intel CPUs not fully using the CPU cores. To make DX12 work properly you need to rewrite the game engine from the ground up. Also CDPR doesn't port from console to PC like most developers, they port from PC to consoles which is why Cyberpunk ran so poorly on consoles at launch

The thing I hate the most of this update, many shadows from huge things like buildings that appears only TWO METERS away from Geralt if you do not activate raytracing....even rotating the camera makes shadows fade. Ruin SO much the immersion. And tweaking the ini files (cascade fade, quality, map size) do nothing! They had built back a lot of goodwill recently. If they do not roll out some patches soon, they are going to pay a huge price to their future projects. This game would have started printing money again in sales if it was done right.
I dont know the game looks absolutely stunning with all RT effects on but it does need some fixes especially on RDNA 3 from what I've seen heard. I tested it on my main rig which has a 4090 with a 7700X cpu and the game was really stuttery the first time I launched it but after reaching the first inn and doing the first 2 quests the stutters are gone so am not sure if it's a shader caching thing. Never played the game on PC before so I can't load to other areas but playing as you would it runs fine. 60 to 80 fps at 4K RT ultra+ DLSS quality. Frame Generation works really well too actually. I intend to put together a performance vid as I play and test it on my other gpu's as well. Its a free update but why not delay it until its fixed and works good. The first experience is important. Loading in a stutters game is not a good experience even when it's free. I am working on a performance video and intend to test the game on my other gpus too. Its demanding buy that's ray tracing for ya. 60 to 80 fps at RT+ with DLSS

although I generally agree with the notion that CDPR really fucked it up... *AGAIN* with the performance, it still has to be admitted that the patch otherwise fixed *A LOT* of in-game issues related to the story, quests, gameplay, etc.
This is pretty disappointing. I bought this game a long time ago on sale and haven’t touched it at all. When I heard about this patch I was pretty excited. But the constant stuttering makes me want to put this off again until they fix it. Lucky I haven’t gotten far into the game yet,

Im running everything turned on an all the way up along with ray tracing at 1440p. Using an evga 3080 an intel i7 10700k, installed on a older SATA SSD. I'm getting a solid 60fps just about everywhere so far, and having a blast playing. Granted it should be running a lot faster than that, if I bump it to 4k then it drags at an unplayable 25-30fps with stutters. But for a free update that adds DLSS, ray tracing and improved textures, I'm happy with it. It needs some fixing, but it's far from a cyberpunk launch dumpster fire.... lol
It's severely CPU limited. I didn't think they were going to go back and rewrite code to fix that. I just had a strong feeling it wouldn't be all that great as they tend to overhype everything nowadays.
@@josh223 I have an i7-9700kf, 2080, and 32gb of 3400hz ram. My system is far from high end and it runs fantastic on my pc. Will likely take CDPR a long time to 'fix' the DX12 version of the game, if they want to do it properly. As far as I'm aware, the only thing you really lose out on while running in DX11 is RT (which most people can't run in this game currently anyway), and DLSS/FSR, which if the game is running much better in DX11 and you're not using RT, you don't really need DLSS and FSR so much.
I said before any of this happened that there would be a shit storm of complaints coming from pc users. I just knew it. I've spent over 6,500 hours with this game, it has become a part of my life, and something that has stayed as a constant for me through really dark times. I run a 3060ti, and a ryzen 5600x with 16gb of ram, and there is no way I wanna attempt to run this game in it's current state, and what annoys me is, this game DID NOT NEED this update, not in any sense of the word. The original version was perfect as it was, but as usual, companies want to make money off morons who would rather have a pretty game over a game with substance. This attitude has now ruined the best game of all time. What a shame.
Half if not most of the stuff reported are probably gpu driver related issues because people posting that using the usual thing aka older nvidia/amd driver helps or outright fixes the issues. Because bad drivers can ruin CPU utilization of the game and this happened multiple times in the past. While there will be a hotfix for the patch but i would not be suprised that nvidia/amd will release new drivers. On steam deck and linux in general side of things well it might have something to do with latest SteamOS update and considering that current version is based on Arch linux which on its own can give additional unforeseen compatibility problems. Hell for all we know it could be the current linux kernel fault for all the problems and this is is coming from someone who uses linux mint as his daily OS on his PC and had similar issue with cpu utilization in freaking Anno 1404 history edtion and some other game just not working at all recently. In short one of cpu cores maxed while the rest almost idle ingame which resulted the game being completely unplayable and having dxvk problems with other games the thing that fixed the issues was updating the linux kernel from 5.15.0-53 to 5.15.0-56

I intend to put together a performance vid as I play and test it on my other gpu's as well. Its a free update but why not delay it until its fixed and works good. The first experience is important. Loading in a stutters game is not a good experience even when it's free.

Will likely take CDPR a long time to 'fix' the DX12 version of the game, if they want to do it properly. Hell for all we know it could be the current linux kernel fault for all the problems and this is is coming from someone who uses linux mint as his daily OS on his PC and had similar issue with cpu utilization in freaking Anno 1404 history edtion and some other game just not working at all recently. In short one of cpu cores maxed while the rest almost idle ingame which resulted the game being completely unplayable and having dxvk problems with other games the thing that fixed the issues was updating the linux kernel from 5.15.0-53 to 5.15.0-56
The new remaster update is somewhat enjoyable if you have a rtx 4080 or 4090
its not xd having this GPUs not enough, you need best CPU what is on the market currently and it's probably still not enough
That Sh!t analogy had me dead!😂
"turning on Raytracing crashes the Game"
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: "yep just like me, and still to this day it never got patched. I even crash without RT and just by enabling DLSS."
What makes this even more hilarious is that this next gen patch was supposed to be a kind of redemption after the absolute atrocity that was the Cyberpunk 2077 launch. What they've actually ended up doing is digging a even bigger hole for themselves. Their once great reputation is now in absolute tatters.
Let's put it this way - I won't be buying their next game at launch, I'll be waiting at least a year so they can patch it to where it was actually supposed to be at launch. Might as well call themselves CD Projekt Fail at this point.
Their wouln't be a Next Game. CDPR is dead soon.
CDPR are inexperienced amateurs. Thats why their games are trash. CDPR will go bankrupt soon anyways because almost everyone refunded Cyberjunk 2077
Everyone hates CDPR now. Just like everyone hates EA, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Take Two, BioWare DICE, etc
@@exysa2798 Everyone is a factually wrong statement. Unless you go around and ask everyone who bought one of their games you can't say everyone.
Add to that the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 has been making a comeback this year and The Witcher Trilogy before the next gen upgrade still has an absolutely massive following.
@@acurisur not gonna lie, they CP2077 is a lot better than launch, but the 2nd “wind” is only because of the cyberpunk netrunners anime. Very few games have “second launches” like that even if they release in a good state. CDPR got lucky and should be thanking the director behind netrunners.
Funny thing is, it’s still broken 😂😂
I hate how so many ppl just let it slide when a company releases a broken shitty mess of a game. "They'll fix it eventually. So it's ok. Herp derp!" That mentality is why the industry is in the state its in.
It's broken even on dx11... For us with crappy cards like me. On My 1660ti on ultra it runs at 60 fps than it drops at 45 and feels like it's much lower...more like 25... I guess frame times are fucked up... With modded version it was smooth from 50-80 fps and frame times were as it should be
On the consoles is fucked too. Got it on the Series X, and the glitches are crazy. People floating, the wildlife AI behavior got kind of weird, there are deers and dogs getting stuck on the trees while running, the FPS glitches, roach also floating from the ground, every time it does the auto save the game freezes for a second, Yens Portal reappearing after she has already left, when killing the nechrophage they have a jump animation when dying. Idk WTF.. I really hope they come out with a fix. Or a way to go back to the 1.6 patch.. on top of all this shit I had to start a new game because when i tried to reload the old saved file, the horse came out with no hair. I really feel sorry for whoever just bought this game for the 1st time. They are going to have a bad experience, that's for sure. A game that's 10 years old shouldn't even be this bad.
CD Projekt can't even make a stable DLC anymore , they are doneski.
CDPR are inexperienced amateurs and scammers. Thats why their games are trash. CDPR will go bankrupt soon anyways because almost everyone refunded Cyberjunk.!!!!
and get this, they are making yet ANOTHER cyberpunk game named "cyberpunk orion". bro you havent even fixed the first game AND already fucked up the game that made you big, witcher 3. man, you can say what you want about them, but they have BALLS to do shit like this, and trust me, this is not a compliment.
What’s the point of this update when the sole point of this update was to play with ray tracing. It was perfect before
I'm honestly pissed that nowadays, developers try more and more to make games even more demanding with no real benefits other than to make us buy more GPUs, I'm genuinely tired of this, as I'm pretty sure GPUs won't forever get better, there has to be a limit at some point.
Well to make the games look better… that is the benefit. But this is just bad optimization and cdpr being lazy, but still we cant stay at 10 years graphics either. It needs to get better
The game runs like ass even on a 4090, so this is in no way a scheme to make you buy the latest GPU.
I wonder this is why Studio Saber didnt end up making this next gen upgrade. They realise its very hard to make this next gen working flawlessly on PC.
No, it's because of the whole Ukraine and Russia situation. Otherwise Saber would've continued and would definitely have done a better job than whatever god awful in-house devs they contracted to release this garbage.
Imagine managing to fuck up a dlc lmao
The new patch today has made raytracing even worse.
It's amazing to me that there are people out there who actually put faith that CDPR can simultaneously develop the next Witcher and Cyberpunk.
They arent doing it themselves iirc. They have outsourced other people
@@Z-Mikes00 Have they? oh man is this industry effed.
Only CDPR employees and CDPR bots on the internet. No real people. Every real person hates CDPR after Cyberpunk
@@exysa2798 now that's an absolute lie
I’m still confused why they chose to do this when cyberpunk is still broken
It's not but ok
It's not but nice try
@@raf686 I’m literally playing it now, I get crashes at least 3 times a play through
@@sinsere-3615 and I have not. Ok?
@@sinsere-3615 I've gotten less crashes than that in the past yeartime I've played the game. It's nowhere near that broken even on launch for me
My exact experience that you had on a brand new pc. I uninstalled immediately. One of my favorite games of all time. Tried it on series x and it’s a mess there too but actually plays somewhat better than pc.
your series x must be gubbed then as it plays fine on mine. no issues. I did turn off motion blur but that was it. no crashes, great frame rate, looks magic. 👌
@@markwilliamson3043 nope. It drops in towns. You just aren’t noticing it. Ps5 runs it better. RT at 30 fps is trash anyway. Plays fine at 60 with no RT but in towns it drops to 50 fps. Take ya one second to look this up
@@bmdshred77 If you gonna dial down everything to match console settings, I am pretty sure it will run the same on PC. The issue here is those bells and whistles aren't running well on PC which is not even on consoles.
@@eytbits if I turn RT off yes it plays over 120 fps on ultra. Haven’t tried plus yet. Still frame time issues. It’s garbage right now
@@bmdshred77 yup garbage on all platform. worst on consoles as the fps still dips and the resolution is shit
Well i play it with a 1660s and in 1080p on dx12 it run fine in almost ultra i'm at 60 fps.
With my 3080 I average around 75fps at 4k ultra, RT on everything but shadows, and with DLSS Quality. Yet it’s still unplayable. The stuttering is beyond comprehension and doesn’t stop until I deactivate DLSS for some reason. It’s completely broken.
you really get 75fps at 4k rt without shadows and dlss on quality?? I cant even get to 60 fps on 4k with dlss quality mode with everything maxed out with rt off on the 3070
I can barely get 30fps with my 3080 at 4k and dlss quality
did you enable Nvidia reflex in display, after I enabled no more stuttering
@@undertone8367 Something absolutely bonkers is going on with this game lol
@@undertone8367 I’m just going to assume that either your DLSS isn’t working or my RT isn’t actually working. Either way. DLSS breaks my g sync as well as creating unbearable stutter. CDPR was a good dev, once. Not anymore unfortunately.
I did the update -> game on the new settings under 60 fps --> closed the game ... honestly, there are so many games that work well out there why even bother ....
You have the right mindset lol. I haven't even played everything on my wishlist
The game with the next-gen update looks and works amazingly on my Series X.
@@astr86 Why??😥
First Saints Row 2 then Cyberpunk 2077 bugs and now this, What's next, their gonna screw up GOG?
CDPR are inexperienced amateurs and scammers. Thats why their games are trash. CDPR will go bankrupt soon anyways because almost everyone refunded Cyberjunk.!!!!!_
Saints Row 2 is still the worst pc port of all time.
Even if it's free I still feel robbed.
Wth cdpr.
What gpu do you have?
Tbh I’ll be happy if I got your performance with Dlss turned on RT off.
I got a 3080 ti
5800x
32gb ram
Playing at 4K 120hz
Fps goes as low as 40fps in hierarch square novigrad. Stutters too..
There are times I would boot up game though and it would run fine doesn’t go lower then 55fps with no stuttering but I 100% agree it should not be an issue with a system with 3080 Ti and 5800x
