I actually won a game like this when I used to play back at the club where I came in tired and played the start of the game like a donkey and had one whole side of my board collapse because of a opening blunder.... I just pretended like I meant it as a gambit and had very entertaining finish. i love these kinds of games. serious chess is good, but sometimes you need a couple like these to refresh yourself.
The guy, who has played this game, had tried this out before? Or did he guess the continuation when he started to push the pawns? :)) really amazing game and thanks for posting !! Continue that ! ;)
+Simplicitasif those teenagers were playing that time they would ve been crushed coz there was no computer for their assistance and they would have felt handicapped ..cheers
Honestly, I thought 11 RxQ... was a mistake as soon as it was played, because it doesn’t relieve the pressure on white’s king side. (And it’s not like being up a rook is bad.)
Mato, just at the end, isn't h3 a better possibility in stead of hxg3? Then if Rook takes h3, then fxg3 making room for the King to escape and hold on a little longer....Or maybe I'm missing a better move.
Well I found the move, but I don't think I get the Tactical genius Credit because in the progression I thought up was a forking the king and Queen and taking the queen rather than progressing to checkmate.
So, if white instead of forking with the knight, would have taken f7 with his c4 bishop, he would probably gain tempo and resulting 3pawns for his black squared bishop, right?
You have to be very careful when you play a combination with a non forced move like this because your oponent may be able to take the intiative and ruin your plans. For example, if there wasn't a knight on f6, white, instead of resigning, could have answered Bf7+ and at least draw the game because the h4-d8 diagonal would be free for the queen to attack.
Sorry, very late to this discussion. What if White captures the Rook in stead of the Queen? Is White better? I understand this did not happen. Nice game and thank you for your years of analysis.
It really depends on the player and on the character of the position. I heard they generally need to think 3 or 4 moves ahead, but certain positions can have forced sequences of moves which means thinking deeper to see if the end result is favourable or not. The advantage a human has over computer is that they can just ignore certain moves that clearly have little effect on the game, especially when there is tactical struggle. But the computer doesn't know they are pointless moves so it will waste the vast majority of its time looking at crazy positions, but this is okay since they can think millions of moves per second anyway.
;) Thank you, but probably his videos have something to do with it. They (and a few others) have helped me to be able to, at least superficially, analyse things easier.
+tovaris09 Not entirely! The first few moves are what we call "strategy," which prepares for tactics. Usually, you want 1. center control, 2. king safety, and 3. piece development in the beginning. This helps you play much better in the mid and endgames.
Brilliant combination. Mato ur videos r. Awesome. Thank u. Yout voice is like Roaring lion. From south indIA.
Congratulations, Mato! You have turned a bunch of club players into tactical geniuses. Good work :)
This game is genuinely intricate ... I couldn't predict any move ... and subsequently I was bewildered.
Tactical genius ? I am ? Well , I don't like to flatter myself but if you insist .
+Aslan Ibrahimov I don't even play chess but apparently I'm a tactical genius too.
Now everyone thinks they are tactical genius
+jen soni lol after the pawn took the knight i was like "shit! now what?"
Yes, I got the move, but was thinking more about attacking the queen and opening up the diagonal than the check or checkmate
What a game!! It all looks like Chigorin is playing like an ameteur, but in the end he has had the final laugh!
I love it when, mostly by chance, I guess the correct move and Mato says 4:27 "Congratulations, you're tactical genius!" ;)
I'm a Tactical Genius!!! Mato Jelic said so!
I took that same guess with the horse. not because i was a tactical genus but because I really wanted to move that horse.

Mato jelic is awesome all the very best for his bright chess career
Thank you
Brilliant game. Much better than the opening Chigorin is known for :)
this is a awesome display , well done Mato
If White takes the rook with the knight instead of the queen, he has a good game.
The guy, who has played this game, had tried this out before? Or did he guess the continuation when he started to push the pawns? :)) really amazing game and thanks for posting !! Continue that ! ;)
Wow, the game has evolved really fast. Those guys would be crushed by teenagers today.
+Simplicitasif those teenagers were playing that time they would ve been crushed coz there was no computer for their assistance and they would have felt handicapped
..cheers

I'm no tactical genius, I just watched the same game by Steinitz, twelve years before this game was played. Dubois vs Steinitz. London, 1862.
Mato, just at the end, isn't h3 a better possibility in stead of hxg3? Then if Rook takes h3, then fxg3 making room for the King to escape and hold on a little longer....Or maybe I'm missing a better move.
Good job mato keep the work up
I love flying by the seat of my pants and winning, those are the best games.
when white took the pawn on g5 i saw its over but i continued because i want to hear mato's "killer move" and "critical position" :)
Well I found the move, but I don't think I get the Tactical genius Credit because in the progression I thought up was a forking the king and Queen and taking the queen rather than progressing to checkmate.

where are you from sir? I gotta say your accent is lovely so are your phrases describing the moves
after fxg, there is also rh1++
@ThaRealDJHardCor 11.NxRh8! is much better than taking the Queen. But it was easy to see it after the game.
4:25 quote 'If you found THIS move, then you are a tactical genius'

Hmm-this variation could happend often in games. Its a typical structure. Must notice that. Thx Mato
Then I guess I am a tactical genius.
Qf4? How? When?
Please advise
Sorry, very late to this discussion.
What if White captures the Rook in stead of the Queen? Is White better? I understand this did not happen.
Nice game and thank you for your years of analysis.
according to Mato, I'm a tactical genius ;)
that was a brilliant play indeed!
Awesome!
Hey Mato is this opening Giuoco Pianissimo?
white must of been very delighted by taking the black queen but got a shocker a fews moves later
Wow!!! What a game.
fxg3 is impossible as the pawn is pinned by the bishop on c5
fxg3 is impossible since pawn on f2 is pinned to white king by black bishop on c5.
What if he moved the rook to e1 instead of the knight to protect it? Is it still mate?
That is one amazing variation to play
The f2 pawn is still pinned, so fg3 is not possible; mate is unavoidable.
4:38 what with gxf3 gxh2+, Kg2 h1Q+, Kg3 Qh3#?
beautiful game, remember kids, chop chop chop no game left...
at the time 5:02
if the f2 pawn takes the g3 then ????????
what a game????Unbelievable .......
how many moves do GM players think normally of? like when he was sacrificing pieces he was already expecting the results?
It really depends on the player and on the character of the position.

Chirgorin morphed into Morphy and won..
The title is funny, made me chuckle somewhat.
Fix'd... I thought it was one of your original jokes!
Unfortunately I knew about this famous game so knew the moves.
Brilliant attack!
Mato N je konj? jer je na engleskom knight pa nebi trebao biti K?
I always wine brilliantly...or so I think until post-mortem the next morning.
White is loosing in all variations
Indeed!
At 3:33, the variation shown is not equal after White gives back the queen. Black is clearly better.
If Mato said im a actical genious then it must be true
why didn't white move the room on F1 and try escaping ?
At 4.27 I think black pawn move to h2 would also make a great check mate 🤔 how's agreeing with me 🤷♀️
fun tactics good one Mato
@2:48 what about silent move Re1 or Nc3!!
Play like Tal no reverse gear! ha ha!! 😁
;) Thank you, but probably his videos have something to do with it. They (and a few others) have helped me to be able to, at least superficially, analyse things easier.
why can.t white play H2 to G3 .. apparently seems best move out of all tried
I found it but feel no genius:)
Only if you were there to tell me at every game : Wait, this is a critical moment, can you find the right move?:)
Exactly.
same feeling lol😂
fxg3 is not possible do to the bishop pin on c5.
I'M A TACTICAL GENIUS!! 11!!!!! YAAAAAAAASSSSS
what a brilliant game
After white knight takes black queen, shouldn't black pawn take white pawn on H2 for checkmate?
+Joshua Niu White king can simply move to h1 to block black pawn.
+wagonman01 After that Bxf3#
+Aryamman Bhatia At 2:17? I think that's where Joshua was refering to, and there's nothing on F3 to take.
lol white moves first, after the knight took the queen black took the bishop
I am tactical genius for the wrong reason.
Very good game.
I'm a tactical genius :"( thank you very much...
f2 was pinned by bishop at C5
Amazing...
Uhhh, why not Rook to b,c,d or e 1? king would have no longer been pinned...
there must be a little luck in chess because in beginning no one can imagine possible position after few moves
+tovaris09 Not entirely! The first few moves are what we call "strategy," which prepares for tactics. Usually, you want 1. center control, 2. king safety, and 3. piece development in the beginning. This helps you play much better in the mid and endgames.
Great, aggressive play for black.
My engine say Nd4 was a blunder
Amazing
BRAVO
why couldnt white play pawn from f2 to g3 and then have his queen back up the other pawn in case rook take it
White cannot move pawn on f2 because it is pinned
Great chess
i would not resign at that point i'll play bishop to f7 check then block the rook at h5
Hahahahaha it's still won't save the game for white, he's still will lose.
What a game!!!
"and winning" twice!
Pawn on e5 queen would be lost.
its not by chance, its intuition...
after this video ,i feel like some one do me child mate
What a gem
Wow what a game
CHIGORIN !!!
sta ce onda kralj biti? kralj je vaznia figura, pa on bude K i konj (knight "night") ide N po engleski
I cannot hear well
unbeileable genius. thks
because, then g3 pawn takes h2 pawn, check ,king moves to f1, Promote pawn to Queen/rook. CHECKMATE.
Fxg3 is not legal, the Bishop is pinning the pawn. And is there any sense in Writing this 11 months later??
i'm not Mato but you're right :D
the f pawn is pinned by the bishop... 16. fxg3 is not possible.
I am a tactical genius! :)
around 3:50 equal... god damn no.
+samas samaitis hell yea. computer gives 0.3 for black which is about equal.
