I put my solve online for NOLA because a vital clue is still standing in Lafayette Square. When you stand in the spot so many elements of the puzzle come to light and I think that's awesome after 40 years. I want NOLA fans to have that same eureeka moment I had. And yes, theres a good chance the box is still in the ground.

To me the most obvious place to dig was the home team's batters box. Digging up home plate with its required intricacies is a non starter for a get in and get out strategy.

I was on a show for Universal and signed a contract that I wouldn't ever speak about the show and its contents until after the show aired and still could only divulge certain information.
So I'm sure he is under contract and yes even Josh is scripted!

In my opinion it's clear he just scooped that solve that someone else had posted, and had to sort of reverse-engineer a solve when trying to walk Expedition Unknown through how he got to Puopolo Field. The 'five steps' explanation made no sense. The Columbus statue connection has always been pretty silly. In retrospect, I think all you really needed in order to solve this puzzle was to know that the North End is Boston's 'Little Italy', and then "Face the water, your back to the stairs, feel at home", and there with that info there was really only one place in the North End to dig. But, hindsight's 20/20, I guess.

Other than the obvious the name Xenophon is primarily a gender-neutral name of Greek origin that means Strange Voice. From the Greek word "xenos" meaning foreign/strange and the word element "phon/phone" meaning voice.

The bit about the girls being EU fans seemed to be a construed for television moment. The more than likely scenario was the father ran across The Secret in his work and told his daughters about it and when they googled it the EU episode(s) popped up which of course they watched on demand.

Many months ago I posted and then in December I reposted a solution that logically leads from the Boston Public Library and ends at home plate at Langone Field. A pivotal part of the solution is the line "Take five steps in the area of his direction". It is 5 subway stops but here's where Preiss threw the monkey wrench into the mess: the Copley station is NORTHWEST! If you travel NORTHEAST, you arrive at the Arlington Station and where you BOARD the subway. Five stops later, you are at the North Station. In 1980, you could see the lights at Langone field. You now walk down the street near those who pass the colosseum with metal walls (Steriti Ice rink). Near = the other side of the street and you arrive at the stairs. I have posted this solve on the Boston Group. Works perfectly and the wording that Preiss used is tricky but when followed, you get to the casque.

Even if it was fake, We all should be grateful that they are trying to revive this. There are so many hunters that "really know" the area of a possible casket but they've done nothing and still want credit. I'm happy they did something to put this in the eyes of the people, but I would really love if they could find them all!

Mr. Ward, could it be that the reason Mr. Krupat doesn't wish to speak to the community is because of the hostility being demonstrated towards him? I am an avid listener of your (well the late great JM's podcast) and you along with your cast of regular characters show this man very little respect. You speak of how straightforward and 'pretty easy' this puzzle was to solve, yet it sat in the ground for nearly 40 years...He only got '4%' of the solution right?!? What isn't realized by the endless dissection this children's book receives is that it is open for interpretation, that is The Secret. All 3 casques found so far were dug up without a definitive solution. Byron was not a puzzle maker, he was an young (at the time) idealist whom was fascinated by history, fantasy, storytelling and creativity. JJP has also been on the record numerous times alluding to BP''s knack for messing with people all in good fun...why? Because he didn't take things too seriously and this whole game was very much about that.
A guy from outside the community earns a casque and he is accused of lying, cheating, deceiving, which are the very actions you scoff at from others doimg. This guy found a casque within two years, there is much jealousy from this that have been searching much much much longer with absolutely nothing to show for it. JJP must love laughing at the expense of this community because he knows exactly where these were all buried.
How about offering a congrats instead of ripping the solve apart??

Please don't be so hard on Mr. Ward. He's doing the best he can with imperfect and often contradictory information. For example, in addition to the two examples he illustrated in this video, there is the account told by the construction workers who helped Mr. Krupat dig the day he returned to the site. According to one of them, who had pictures on his phone to back up his story, Mr. Krupat told them that he had been searching for over 10 years. It's possible the reason Mr. Krupat doesn't get the respect you think he deserves is because of the disdain and arrogance he has shown for the puzzle and to the community, almost from Day 1. The fact that he can't keep even a simple story straight does not help either.
      My two cents.

    • @christophermacdonald30

@@robertd.renovator7270 regardless of how long anyone has been working on cracking this children's puzzle, nobody owes the community anything. Every person has equal opportunity to decode, dig and find. Chicago, Cleveland and Boston all lucky in kind to retrieving the casques because it was not BP's core objective for them to be found, it was getting kids up and off the couch to teach them the rich storied history about these cities. Dissect JJP's interviews and the information he has shared supports this. He knows where they are but is supporting Byron's legacy by preventing them to be found. Let's be honest, after 40 years 3 of 12 were extracted, that's all the proof needed.

@@christophermacdonald30 I agree that nobody owes the community anything. But if all you give the community is dishonesty and disdain, then by the same token, you shouldn't be surprised if you get the same in return. Or as BP said, "For Fair Folk's peace, Goodness first".

Who tf are you to tell the finders what they can or cant do after they have found one? Jason Krupat doesnt owe you or anyone else any explanations. Hes forever etched in stone as one of the solvers. Its very weird you feel entitled like he owes you some sort of explanation or interview.
