      The scissor should be illegal in anything but professional. You're an asshole if you do that to people. Jumping guard to a lesser degree but it's stupid as well.

    There should be a rule where if someone does a jumping guard, their opponent is given a chance to do 1 slam or 2 punches.

    When you do the flatten out thing. Try slide down a bit further down to his lower back and backheel with your own legs sprawling into him so you lift his legs up.
    Then if you have over under grip try pull his hand with your underhook side hand. So he lies on it while you sprwal into him, then pull that arm out and lift his forehead up with that hand and your choke arm (the overhook should be ready to choke and then finish it.
    Im worse case keep pulling his forhead up and look for the choke, remever in gi, you have the collar as well.
    When you have your hooks in and flatten him out like you did, with the right pressure and controll this is by far the most dominant position you can have

    0:52 I’ve never heard of the concept of keeping their knees below your knees. I’m pretty sure you can get to DLR or even a deep DLR (de la x) with your knee lower than the standing person. I think what’s stopping him for entering DLR is your grips to stop him from getting the angle and your butt is low enough that there’s no room to get the DLR hook in.

    • @Carsahh

    Just a small tip that will make a HUGE difference when you have someone in side.
    Stay away from his legs/lower body
    When youre passing. Remeber that you can control his hip with you hand on the same side as you are by posting it on the ground by his hip, or you can just grab his knee if he is turning against you and just pull it straight (cause he wants to curl up like a ball and get a knee shield in, or you can force that knee to the other side making his lower body turn away from you.
    Also, you can go towards north south, which you should (at least) have done rather than than getting back into his guard or him getting a knee shield.
    Going to NS will block his attempt at going back to halfguard or getting a knee shield in.
    (Just remeber to push his knees away from his body and keep pressure)
    Luckily he turned away into turtle.

    I’m curious why you chose to take a reactive (counterattack) approach in HQ as opposed to proactively attacking. Is that a hallmark of the position, or your personal play style? And do you find that the benefits outweigh the risks?

    • @Carsahh
      @Carsahh  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like to use headquarters as a safety position. It’s easy to hold and has multiple routes to attack from based on my opponents reaction. So the more they freak out or move the more openings created.
      I guess the point is that I’m trying to stay calm and not expose myself while capitalizing on their mistakes.
      Much different than my outside passing system where I try to initiate and force attacks / openings 👍

    • @Carsahh
      @Carsahh  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To add a bit, I used to play almost exclusively from HQ, but after most of my training partners started to figure out my style it was harder to find attacks from there. So that’s when I started to play more outside passing, and I use HQ as a safety position when I get entangled. From there I’ll look for those openings or back out and go around again

    Becareful with that grip when you are standing to open the guard. When you stand to open the closed guard you want to be forcing the guard pullers/players hip towards the ground it neutralize their attacks and makes it easier to open their legs. By keep your grip post higher on their collar as opposed to moving it towards their hips the guard player feels no pressure on his hips and has full mobility. At blue belt you can get away with that grip higher on the lapel...as the guard players skill level increases you want to shut those hips down. Also, avoid having your knees on the ground when opening/Passing guard...your knees on the ground lowers the amount of pressure on your opponent and makes it easier for them to move. Just think about when you play guard....it's easier to sweep and sub when a knee is on the mat as opposed to when someone is tripod or hovering.

    DQ in BJJ. He’d get a ban for that in Judo, let alone continue the match

    Pulling Guard is such BS. It is bad BJJ and bad martial arts. So many BJJ practitioners like to say its effective Self Defense, well not if pulling guard is the basis of your personal fighting method. Learn to do takedowns. Lots of BJJ guys cross train in Judo to learn the take downs but then enter a tournament and pull guard from standing. In Judo its an instant penalty. They are different combat sports with different rules but I think BJJ should adopt a similar rule.
    Also, in self defense fighting from your back should never be a first choice. It is an Excellent skill to have but never your first choice.
