Skidding a 15 foot douglas fir log off the mountain. The rest was cut up into firewood but this piece was too nice to cut up. This will go to the mill for lumber.
Great shots and video of the 420C. Love it. Neighbor lost the engine in his 420C by climbing a hill so steep that the oil pump starved for oil and ruined the 2 cyl engine. I bought that 420C from him and spent a lot of time and money getting the clutch's and brakes fixed. But they will pull a mountain. Guess you can tell when starving the engine for oil, as just have to watch the stack... just kidding.
Yeah, these crawlers will go near vertical! I learned the hard way to not be low on fuel when hill climbing too! It will die at a most inconvenient time.
That"s a really cool, old dozer.Reminded me of when I was a kid.Dragging dead tree"s for firewood back to the house with a Honda trail 90.Once you learned how and where to rig the rope,it was pretty amazing what that thing would pull.
Ha! Right! Most of the time I use my little 4x4 to yard out logs. That little car can pull a lot of weight! Trail 90s are awesome. I grew up on 3-wheelers. Handy machines too.
Just gave a friend of mine a 1957 JD 420 crawler ,and i know he will enjoy it after getting it back in running condition
They are incredible machines! and fun too

Mine would dump hydraulic fluid on my shoe out the filler tube when it got too steep.
@@pbuhler1 That's one way to lower the oil level. To change the oil just tip it upside down 🙃

That’s going to be one dirty log
Yup. I clean my logs before milling. That or peel the bark if its loose.
needs a ring/valve job...blowing a lotta smoke
Beautiful machine. I have an old cletrac thats equally enjoyable to operate. They just run
Nice! Them old cletracs are cool machines. Never seen one up close.
