No christmas dinner here. We have no family near and no one really to share a holiday meal with, I live vicariously through others. Have a merry Christmas, enjoy your family time.
My grown children are spread out around the world so each year my husband and I alternate where we spend the holidays. This year we are in Michigan with 2 of my daughters and their families. We are getting together and celebrating 3 nights. Saturday night I will cook a Lasagna pasta night. Sunday, Christmas Eve, the guys are grilling steaks and having a baked potato bar. Monday, Christmas day, I will prepare a big breakfast to enjoy after the presents are opened and then my daughters plan to cook a Chinese food buffet for dinner. An abundance of side dishes and desserts will be had by all. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

I'd admire your skills in the kitchen. I don't cook or bake, I live alone, and never really enjoyed it. I do love to receive homemade goodies though. I'm surprised you didn't put waxed or tissue papers in your tins. It's so thoughtful to give homemade goodies to your neighbors. In younger days, always went to my mom's; she hosted the holidays. We're all scattered in different states, so everyone does their own family thing. Yes, it's been a great year hanging out with you and enjoying the process of your house becoming a home. I made short bread, ginger bread and chocolate bark for years. We did tins for family and friends. I miss my kids decorating the ginger bread ( we did little trees and men) but not the baking itself. When I started working again I stopped. We host most events for my husbands family, but not as regularly since the pandemic.
You and Ben have made great progress on the house and I can't wait to see what you do in 2024! Also, the marshmallows and chocolate chip cookies look delicious! I wish I were your neighbor! LOL!
I love making sugar cookies and frosting them for neighbors, but don't always have time. I hosted this year, which is a whole lot more work than attending! I came across your channel by looking at your black tar mastic removal video, which I am currently working on. I also experienced the awful smell of the heat gun on that stuff :o. Looks delicious, Merry Christmas! I made 3 of my Grandma's recipes yesterday, frosted sugar cookies, thumbprint cookies with blackberry jam in the middle and Russian teacakes. It is just my husband and I at Christmas so I am making a little turkey breast. I am in Illinois and my daughters live in Northern Wisconsin 600 miles away and South Florida 1100 miles away. We do get together with them but usually not on holidays. We did go to Wisconsin on Thanksgiving and my daughter cooks. I fixed all holiday dinners for my husband and little family for 45 years. Plus I fixed my first Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner when I was only 14 after my Mother passed away. So I am fine with retiring that duty!

The torch for Christmas dinner was officially passed to me this year. We had dinner at our place and brought dinner to my in laws as my father in law is too sick to come to the house.
