If you would've told me a 150mm bike would pedal this well I would've called you a bold faced liar! The ‪@scottsports‬ Genius is an uber efficient, trail slaying machine. I've spent a few weeks throughly getting acclimated with it all over Northwest AR and here are my thoughts: The bars are wacky, the paint is gorgeous, and it's one of the most versatile bikes I've ridden.
This is a size L, TUNED version of the Genius and I was certainly expecting a 9K bike to work pretty damn well! The fit on this thing seems pretty spot on for my 5'10 frame. It does take a bit of time to get used to the Syncros bar/stem combo and it felt STRANGE at first. It was almost as if the bars were down at my hips, however, after a few rides I was digging it!
My riding on this bike encompassed some of the gnarliest trails in the area (Buffalo Outdoor Center), some old school XC style trails and, of course, some sweet jump lines! The bike felt killer on all of these types of terrain. The Buffalo Outdoor Center was the first time I actually got it on the trail and I felt very comfortable immediately.
One thing that took me some time get used to was the dropper lever setup. With the Twin Loc lever down where the dropper would normally be, I had to orient my thumb to moving up to hit the dropper. It became second nature pretty darn quickly though. This is pretty much the only "negative" I really have about this bike.
I starting choosing this bike on the majority of my rides because it just seemed to fit my type of riding and I wasn't quite sure how long I'd have it ;)
Please shoot me any questions you have on this thing, I'm happy to answer.
Big thanks to @KOM Cyclery in Nolanville TX for hooking me up with this demo rig.

I rode a 2018 Genius 920 for two years and it has, hands down, the absolute best pedaling platform of any bike I have ridden. I loved that bike! I was a bit over-biked at 150mm for 90% of the trails here in Boise, Idaho so I gave it to my kid and traded up to a short-travel ripper (DC bike) -- A Transition Spur. I love the Spur and as fantastic as it is, the Genius pedals better. On another note, there are plenty of Twin-Loc haters out there but I loved having access to remote suspension lockouts on the handlebars. I miss that on the Spur. 🤘

I have a genius 950 from 2020. and it is great bike. Bike pedals great, I usualy do long rides, even 100km a day and scott genius does it great. Twinloc is one of the best thing you can have on mountain bike. Bike climbs easily, and I climbed some sections on my local trails that I could not climb on my hardtail.

I had a 2017 Scott Spark that I rode for 3 years. It was an amazing bike. I pushed it well beyond its limits and it just kept going. Scott makes some of the best climbing bikes, and I love the TwinLock.

I also ride a Scott Spark 960 - apparently it’s a xc bike: I didn’t know any better when I started and progressed to black trails with. Still going strong.

Just stay on top of that rear shock service intervals, as Scott clearly made every effort to make this model as light as possible...truly a Magic Carpet ride. First bike in a long list of test mules that I truly WANT. I wouldn’t even bother asking to borrow it, I’d be ruined and not want to give it back. Lucky Dawg

Its the rise dude, that bar set up is clearly XC oriented based on the rise numbers, hence the awesome pedal/climb…its a beautiful, love it, trail bike for XC riders with deep pockets. If your a heavy or aggressive rider, consider another platform as you will be plagued with rear shock issues…at the very least a grip ll damper upgrade, more aggressive/narrower tires and and swap out the cockpit for more rise…otherwise the descents on this Ferrari will be busy and expert level. Otherwise keep it stock and on the fluffy side, its a rocket ship in the right hands, being a trail bike put on a Ketogenic diet. SICK!!!

I just got a 6.800$ bike, first fully, very nice to ride, scott genius tuned 900, I would definitely rate it 10/10, cause the pedaling, is smoother than butter. Very nice bike, also a really nice fox transfer dropper so, yeah, I couldn't wish for any other bike ;)

Honestly I'm so confused Why can't I find anything on the internet about the 2022 Scott Genius 950 on the internet besides the websites trying to sell it? and why is there a bike of the same name that cost 3 times as much as mine???

I am having trouble deciding on my next bike. It's between the revel rascal and scott genius 910. I rode my friends rascal the other day and loved it. I live in connecticut were there are lots of rocks and roots with rolling hills. I am currently riding a trek fuel ex 9.8 27.5 plus. I am an aggressive rider who rides between 15 and 25 mile rides normally. What do you think ?

Hey Jason! I think you can’t go wrong wither way. If they are both available, I’d look to see what the better deal is and use that money to upgrade something if you’d like. I’m hoping to get on a Large Rascal at some point soon. Let me know what you decide.

I have James and it's AMAZING! I think it comes down to what type of terrain you are riding. I felt the Genius was incredibly capable on the majority of things I would ride. The Ransom defied logic with how well it pedaled for a 170mm bike.
