Not only a great guitar player, Chet was about as fine a human being that ever lived. He remained unchanged despite all his fame. Just a poor kid from East Tennessee, who really changed the world of guitar.
You're teaching SO slowly. But I've almost made it thru the second bar.... I thought you said the tune isn't overly complicated! Great lesson on this beautiful tune, thanks!!
Hi Victor! I do realise the tempo of most of my tutorials is quite slow, but every time I check with my subscribers and customers, almost all of them ask me to stick to that pace. It's probably an unavoidable side effect of wanting to cover every detail and give some alternative takes on the harder parts! But I do hope you got the necessary info out of it!
@@TimVanRoy These tunes are so difficult (for us mere mortals) that the slow pace and repetition is MANDATORY in order to understand what the heck is going on!! Even so, I find myself rewinding over and over... aghhh.
Tim do you think that after learning few fingerstyle songs and having a few years of experience and transcribing in other genres it is a good idea to transcribe songs like this one? I have a really hard time figuring out so many unusual chord voicings. Should I try to transcribe 1 second per day or do something before that?
Hi Igor! Transcribing can be very challenging in the beginning, and I find it hard to pin down the exact point when you can start figuring out songs like this. As part of my freelance work I used to write full band arrangements, transcribing every instrument of pop or rock songs. So I had a lot of training before attempting these songs, and even having a video of the artist playing the song is very useful (because of the highly technical nature of the music). I would work bar by bar instead of using something like seconds of minutes to measure it. Start with one bar, and if that works out try to get the first four bars done. It is also very common to spend a LOT of time on the first verse and chorus and then blow through the rest of the song because there is so much repetition going on. Unless you try something like Endless Road by Tommy, that song nearly put me under the ground! 😂
@@aliciareis7122 Very nice! A bit easier than Tommy Emmanuel's version I already covered. The chords seem a bit less demanding, although overall there are still plenty of challenges. It's on the list for the future, but I can't give you any timeframe yet!

Do you have a tutorial for guitar rag? Can’t find anywhere - is it on your patron page?
That is a song I have yet to cover, Ed! But I'm sure it will be done in the future!
@@TimVanRoy thank u so much for responding so quickly- I look forward to seeing that tutorial - it’s my favourite song ever - thanks Ed
Hi, Tom! Could you make a tutorial of Close to You, Muriel Anderson?
Hi Alicia! Some Muriel Anderson is very long overdue here on the channel. Do you have a TH-cam link to a version you like?
@@TimVanRoy Hi, Tim, thank you for your reply. In that link, you can see this version of Close to You:
