Robin, Maurice, and Andy are gone. Barry is the only Gibb still living. Incredibly gifted, Every one of them.
This song is one of my favorite songs from the Bee Gees.

One is the Bee Gees' eighteenth studio album (sixteenth worldwide), released in April 1989 (August 1989 in the United States;After the European success of their previous album, E.S.P., the Gibb brothers began to work on the One album in early 1988. In March, their brother Andy suddenly died and the Bee Gees took a break until November when they returned to the studio to complete the album.[3][4] The style of One was more melancholic than E.S.P., and heavily influenced by the loss of their brother. The album was dedicated to Andy and the song Wish You Were Here was written as a tribute to him.
The album was co-produced with Brian Tench who had worked with them on the previous album.
Release[edit]
The album had varying degrees of success across the world. In Europe, the album reached the Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland and reached the Top 40 in the UK and France. North American audiences had still not embraced the Bee Gees as they were still regarded as a disco group and the album failed to reach the Top 40 in the US and Canada, despite the success of the title track reaching No. 7 in the US and No. 11 in Canada. Other singles from the album included "Bodyguard" and "Tokyo Nights". In the UK, none of the singles from the album reached the Top 40. This was ironic as every other Bee Gees album from this latter phase of their career produced at least one UK hit while making little impact in the US.
Barry Gibb commented on the song "One" at the time by saying "This song brought us back to US radio. A leading media paper recently stated regarding this song, 'The Bee Gees are capable of at least one more hit.' I don't believe that, I believe we could have at least two."

10 years between hits is a long dry spell but they clearly hadn't lost their stuff. Actually the dry spell was 8 years but "He's a Liar" in 1981 didn't get much airplay where I lived.

Who is Really Better?
An argument in a capsule...
To those comparing them to The Beatles...
I'm one of the biggest Bee Gees fans since I was 9 and am now 54.
However, if you will ask The Brothers themselves, and I agree with them, The Beatles will always be the best, in the sense that they set a new standard of Rock/Pop music.
It just wasn't the whole world which their music affected, but more importantly, they were the greatest influence and inspiration of future superstars...which included the Bee Gees.
However, with that being said, The Gibbs gradually evolved with their very own identity & style which the whole world also embraced all the way through their songwriting achievements with other numerous famous artists.
If the Beatles continued to exist in the 70's up to the 80's, would they have been equally successful?
I believe to a certain extent yes, they have established hardcore fans on earth, but it may be inevitable that they would have adapted to the changing music scenery during those times to stay on top. Notice how they adapted and matured from I Wanna Hold Your Hand to Come Together (!)
They are both legends way up there and each of them has certain categories that makes them better than the other.
