  • After leaving leaving Longreach at the end of the last episode, we made a mad dash to get to devils marbles in just two days. But we still made time to check out the abandoned mine and town of Mary Kathleen. This is we found out that the Barkly Highway further west was partially closed due to flooding. It was only open to one way traffic for 3 hours a day. By the time we left Mary Kathleen, we had just 10 minutes to spare on a 2 hour drive to the start of the road closure.
We made it in time to cross the highway and in doing so we experienced a once in a lifetime time event of crossing the Barkly highway with many centimetres of water still over the road and surrounding land. We were able to see fish and turtles swimming on the highway as well an abundance of birdlife not commonly seen along the highway.
Once safely across we camped the night at The Devils Marbles Campgrounds where we were in a photographers heaven with perfect lighting in the late afternoon and early morning as well as a clear sky at night for photographing the night sky.
Our next stop was Alice Springs where set up camp at the Discovery Parks and used it as a base to explore Alice and the West MacDonell Ranges.
We hope you enjoy this episode which is episode 2 of our 4th year living in the road.

Great timing to see those creeks running. I'd love swimming in them regardless of being cold

Yes we were thinking that you would have loved to dip in all of them. Next time we go out there you have to come too.

Another great video! What camera did you use for the Astro shots?

@@felixxr6turbo thanks bro. We used a few different cameras for the different shots. I used a GoPro11 with its built in star trails, a pixel phone, an iPhone 14 and a canon m50. We love astros.

@@AdventuringPals Yeah the ones at 6:10 and 6:15, I'm guessing are the m50. So beautiful, good work.
