I bet this felt AMAZING. My grandma has long nails and she would (and still does) scratch our heads. I’m 35 and still enjoy it! And now my son does too. She loves to sit and scratch our heads - there’s just something so soothing about it!

This reminds me of past times,I am a child of the 60' s..and a common thing to do was to have someone prepare your head/ hair...scratching the dander,greasing the scalp,braiding or straightening your hair...Often teenaged girls would do this for their boyfriends...particularly when Afros we're huge...How many times during a ride of in the rural areas where people sit on their front porches..and you could view this practice ...oh boy the way..same thing for city folks doing the same.
My best memory was my Aunt Pat who my mom would say was the only one who could tame my thick," and what was referred to then as as " nappy" hair....She would sit in a chair,position me between her legs as I sat on the floor and she would perform the scratching,the straightening with a hot comb....I would end up with 2 " ponytails" and bangs...and boy was I happy!!!...I did not appreciate the type hair I had until probably middle school when people began saying...I love your thick hair...back in those days..we wanted " good hair"..Anyhow..I loved this video to bring these glorious memories..,still thankful for my now salt and pepper thick hair...and hoping through my prayers that my mom sent me to Aunt Pat...as when I got older I always meant to tell my "Auntie" how much I appreciated those times..🥰

So the itching and dandruff not as bad, on wash day where the hair is totally unbraided, apply aloe vera to the hair ( you can use plant but I use 100% topical gel version ) and massage as much as you can on scalp, let half hour pass before you wash it out. I trief this a few weeks ago, and my scalp not itch until day or two before my weekly wash day, which really helps as I got Keratosis Pilaris ( a form of eczema ) , so since my diagnosis, my scalp itches worse than usual, and have to, at some point, wash weekly instead of bi-weekly.
I also cannot grease my scalp as my exczema hates it. Even have trouble with a drop of argan oil, but thankfully the aloe keeps my hair from being dry. I do not braid my hair.
For those who can grease their scalp or handle oils in hair, then this may be added help to aloe treatments. Braided hair or not.
Edit: This vid makes wish I can grease or Vaseline my scalp.....LOL!
I grew up when Ultra Sheen was a thing and Dippity Do was a thing the short time or two my mother hot rolled my hair as a teen.

Try peppermint oil, I don't have eczema myself but I barely itch when I have peppermint oil on. So maybe after your aloe Vera wash you can use peppermint oil and see how that one treats you.

Washing the hair and scalp with a light solution of apple cider vinegar and water, 1:20 ratio, will remove dead skin and create healthy scalp tissue, addressing the flakes. Scratching at flakey skin causes more damage and excelerates minor infections of fungus or bacteria.
I do this on wash days. But prior to washing I remove scalp build-up as well.

@@kiranjitkaur5578Basically we can keep them for months. So no, we don’t wash our hair frequently when we get them done. But for example we can use something to clean the hair sometimes (like lemon or vinegar).

It’s dry scalp caused by the build up of product. Some products cause this to happen😌
