- What can we say about Slipknot in their song Devil and I? It was soooo cool, but the video was so over the top we just had to laugh. Who comes up with this stuff? The music was totally awesome, but the "Exhausted Old Guys" in the title is 100% accurate. I don't know what it is, but our nerves can take one or 2 songs, and then we have to rest. Probably something wrapped up in our blood pressure as well.
One thing is for sure, I think Slipknot is awesome. Love hearing their music.

The video and song actually have everything to do with each other. Slipknot was heavily into drugs and alcohol, the song was written after Paul Grey (Original Bassist) died of a speedball overdose. This song and video was the way they announced they was letting their old selves die and be reborn. Now the two members in the wheelchairs getting stabbed was their formal greetings to Slipknot as during the early days of Slipknot they beat each other up on stage and kill each other in music videos. Fun fact, Slipknot was major show was Ozzfest 99, (The year that Slipknot official started) and Ozzy was highly impressed in their performance that according to some reports he asked his producers why they was not on the main stage.
Slipknot actually officially formed in 1995.

Just wanted to point out: There was no cocaine in Paul Gray's blood when he passed, but there were both fentanyl and morphine.

Great video guys. Reaction to the song was priceless. Funny fact about the video, they were asked to think about whats important to them. Sid Wilson the DJ bit off his arms and fingers because they're the most important things to him. Shawn Crahan (the clown) was hung and burned because that would be the worst way to die. Chris Fehn (green mask) was pecked to death because he has a fear of birds.
Basically, this video is about finding past devils, past things - becoming one with it and then doing away with it Shawn Crahan said in an interview or something along those lines .

@@oldguyreactions ….also the 2 in red robes represent the 2 original ex members of the band paul bass guitar he passed away in 2011 and joey main drummer was fired or left the band due to illness (he later died in july 2021).
The 2 in wheelchairs and straight jackets are the 2 new members ,the stabbing scene is there initiation into the band because as soon as it finished the next scene was them playing in the band.the members dying were in there old masks the deaths representing renewal and restart after losing there former band mates.great reaction 🤘🏻👍🏻

Great reaction old guy’s. I’ve been listening to Slipknot since 1998. Pretty sure I’m the same age as you. They are one of the greatest metal bands of all time. So fun to see you experience them.

I don’t know what that is guy’s.? I got into Slipknot because they are an awesome band that writes awesome metal songs.
The guy eating himself is the DJ (Sid Wilson AKA DJ Starscream). A hand injury, or losing his arm or fingers would destroy his career. The two getting stabbed are the two newest members, The bass player (Allesandro Venturalla) who replaced the founding member Paul Grey who died from a drug overdose and the drummer (Jay Weinburg) who replaced the former drummer who was fired for drug use. The guy getting eaten by crows is Chris fen(percussion), He was also released for violation of their drug abuse policy in the band (He was replaced by "Tortilla Man"). The guy ripping his face off has a fear of losing himself (Mick Thompson, guitar player). The lead singer (Corey Taylor) is sitting at a desk with a blank piece of paper and then blowing himself up, Writers block is his fear. The Spiky mask guy is the Keyboard player as well as samples (Craig Jones) he has a fear of dogs. Jim Root (Guitar)Percussion

I am an old lady as well aged 42, I was always into metal - and watching you is so great, cause getting older can be great! imo you get more open minded and learn just to enjoy, laugh … although it’s not your type of music or whatever you accept or at least you try 😜🤘
When it comes to "the meaning" (as according to Corey Taylor) of the song, it's about not giving in to negativity, especially negativity you inflict on yourself. The video reflects this, in a somewhat convoluted way: Their masks and on-stage personas reflect something about the darkest part of their individual personalities, according to percussionist Shawn 'Clown' Crahan. It started almost as a joke at rehersals, when Crahan would show up wearing an old, flimsy clown mask he bought at (you guessed it) a halloween store. Crahan still refers to the mask as "him", as if the mask _is_ a person(a).
Later, when they started getting some traction in Des Moines, they figured they all should wear masks. Very long story short: it should be about the music and the performance, not who they all were.
The tie-in to this in this video is that you should try to kill off the negativety - the band members aren't killing themselves, they are killing the negative aspects of their personalities. When it comes to the methods used, Crahan (who directed or co-directed this and many other videos for the band) told the others to come up with the worst ways to die. I.e. Craig (with the Pinocchio BDSM mask) is said to be terrified of birds - he is killed off by a murder of crows; Craig (Pinhead mask) is said to absolutely _love_ dogs, being killed by one would be the worst thing, etc.
This is also the first video featuring both "new" members at the time, drummer Jay Weinberg (son of Max Weinberg) and bassist Alessandro Venturella, who are now "permanently filling in" for Joey Jordison and Paul Gray respectedly. These two are killed by their new band mates, one could say as some initiation rite to "officially" accept them into the band, even tho' they've already played for the band for a year or two (if not more) at this point. They didn't have "their own" masks yet - I believe they were "properly premiered" in the first music video for their next album, Unsainted from We Are Not Your Kind.
So basically this video is about two daddies 1st time to react on heavy metal music. Oh we'll that's cool fun to watch seeing u guys getting freaking out about this band. So thumbz up and I'll be like it if u react some more c'mon this was 1st time. Suggest to react on slipknot live performance somewhere back in 2000s and 2010s

Absolutely a fun time listening to your reaction... I remember the first time I saw slipknot with my 14 yr old nephew. It blew my mind... huge fan since.. check out system of a down... they ended up being my favorite concert... congratulations looking forward to more
i know it seems that they was being over the top, but in truth they were actually being symbolic. you see, back in the day Slipknot were drunk and stoned out of their asses on a constant, and that all changed when Paul Grey of the Slipknot family OD'd and was found dead. the album that this song comes from is called ".5 - The Grey Chapter", in this music video they were symbolically killing themselves to represent that their old ways were at an end, for they didnt want to end up like Paul.

I know this is not the correct video to ñstate this and I apologise. But please please when you have time, could you listen to Lana Del Ray"s very first single which gave her instant critical acclaim "Video Games."
Or an equally wonderful song is actually her most recent titled "Arcadia ".
It has poignant lyrics and she sounds like an Angel, her voice is ethereal and at its best here It's post lockdown, and not a big budget video.
She has received quite hostile critique from the American press in recent years even though she has always felt highly patriotic about her home . Maybe the critics wounded her too deeply.
Hope you listen to either one when you can or..which would be beyond cool..possibly both!🎊🎈🎉
