Herbie ! I'm currently in the process of refurbishing my Lewmar Clutches, and came across this wonderful video (don't know the date it was published).
I will try this method to reeve(?) the lines back into the clutch, and send a follow-up comment
Refurb = disassemble; polish CRES 316 parts; scrape off UV damaged plastic covers; apply plastic primer; apply clear overcoat (UV-resistant); re-install clutch onto boat.

Let me know how it goes!
This video is maybe 6 or 7 years old. I did this job before leaving to go cruising.

Hi Herbie!! FYI...the method to insert a line through a Lewmar Clutch worked flawlessly. 👍👍👍👍👍 I'm going to post the video soon (and give the credit to you).
Also, I have 11 clutches on my boat, and the refurb of the first two turned out better than I thought. I'll eventually make a video of how I am refurbishing these clutches. 🙂🙂
THANK YOU again for the assist 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Just wrap the wire ends together with Scotch tape. Good demo on knots..... 👍👍✔

I believe your stopper knot is called an Admiralty Knot. An Oysterman's Knot is also better stopper knot than a Figure 8 Knot.

Using a bent fish hook and a short steel leader is significantly faster and much easier than fighting with the wire in your method.
