This brought the house down at SLW, but I was suprised with all the neg comments. This was great, Hopkins has always been a trend setter so dont mind the haters. Took me 2 weeks to figure out the poison ivy/HMS line, Ivy leagues be mad quiet since this dropped 👀
“Looks like meningitis show the culture for the gram” literally made me pause the video and rewind JUST so I could appreciate how brilliant of a bar that was.
As someone whose child will be applying to medical school soon, it brings me pleasure to see that even students at the most elite schools can have some fun. Don’t listen to the comments, you guys were great! (They’re all salty they didn’t get into JHU)
As someone who had both sisters go to undergrad and graduate school at Hopkins. I’ve become familiar with the kind of students they accept in the sociological construct of Baltimore and Marylanders. They are chill. But I do think HMS does pick students with better personalities. Idk. I may be biased for obvious reasons. This video seemed more attacking and defensive for the Maryland swag than I would have expected. Nevertheless I did connect with the keynote speaker at my sisters phd graduation, it was kinda weird. He noticed I was the only active listener in the room or something. He was a boss neurosurgeon w good eyes. But Hopkins and nyu should not trip so hard for being #2, 3 or whatever. It just isnt professional and tbh really damn stupid. So many schools struggle with this. I’ve heard how malignant the undergrad courses are with no curve and only a certain amount of peeps getting A’s, leading to notes being thrown away maliciously in the lib by classmates in the same class that recognise you. Wow. If it’s still like that and they admit people from their own undergrad. That kind of dissonance really says why Hopkins grads are so uptight. Traumatic experiences and tripping so hard for not being #1. There are sociological stereotypes to the way undergraduate institutions formulate generalised personalities from my own observation. If I’m not spot on or accurate in anything I say. Please kindly convey and expound why. Bc knowledge is power (I been around) and the truth always comes out.
You're reading far too into this. Hopkins used to be far more competitive even just 10 years ago than it is today. Now undegrad courses aren't graded on curves nor are they grade deflated (average GPA is like a 3.7) and you won't mean a single student that has experienced the academic violence you just described. Hopkins is still mainly a premed school so it will be more academically competitive than your average liberal arts college, but it's still a supportive community. And at the medical school level, all the top schools are nearly identical culturally. Most look for the same general things and attract the same general group of people. Physicians as a whole are a pretty homogenous group. Also no one irl cares about whether a med school is ranked #1 or #5 - what you have seen online or in limited interaction doesn't capture that.
Lol it’s kinda funny that med schools are all releasing their MVs the week before prospective students are required to narrow down their acceptance options to one
People need to understand that doctors are people too and can connect with people of all age groups. Also good luck suing for something that isn’t illegal and does not interfere with learning.
