Get some puffs and put them above your pol water tank, they poop slime, you convert that to algae, and it all continues. The slime can be used for mushrooms as well. The game never runs out of resources
you can use room layout like 26:00 but just lock a door. dupe can store material in storage bin even if door is locked. and 26:46 you can see hatch egg drop out to the bottom of map and never go to kill chamber
I once owned a paku for many years she was up to 32lbs when I had to donate her to the aquaculture branch of Fau's bio sciences. They also had a 58lb Male. Amazing fishes altogether.
Pacus are tamed via feeding them. BTW while they can eat about 140 kg algae per day, they eat only 1/3 of seeds per day, so maybe the seeds aren't that bad idea. What doesn't work is taming them trough seeds as they eat too little every day to have serious impact on their wilderness. Maybe check if limiting their algae supply doesn't have same effect (I think wild pacus are not very effective compared to their tamed counterparts). And I would personally use conveyor receptacle instead of chute - algae would stay in receptacle (100kg capacity) and dupes would bring only limited amount to conveyor loader. You can even specify that receptacle may be (not) accessed by dupes. To be specific, receptacle can only accept all material on the rail, so when filled with 100 kg of anything and another 10 kg waiting on rail, it wouldn't fit until 10 kg were taken from receptacle - because of that, your conveyor loader would need dupe interaction once per 5 day to bring 10 kg of algae. I hope I am clear with what I am trying to say :-) And as usual, thanks for neat idea for auto farm - I saw lot of them on forums, but I like your variant the most. P.S. To be honest I was looking forward to your reaction when pacus in your food storage would hatch and then stay alive in food "airlock" because it's liquid :-)))
Thanks for this automated pacu farm idea..... So the fish usually get tamed when they eat through the feeder..... I was also thinking you can put a weight plate for the algae to control the amount of algae you will have in the fish farm room.... Connect automated wire to the loader Unless you need all the algae in that room... Then you don't need the weight plate... Lastly usually you don't need to lock the doors you can always restrict access on the doors.... There is usually two arrows when you select the door that indicate in and out..... I find that easier than waiting for the dupes to toggle on and off
Why not use a Puft Farm to get renewable algae? Pufts eat Polluted Oxygen and excrete slime. Anyways, Pacus produce Polluted Dirt, which can be sublimated into renewable polluted oxygen. As a bonus, the Polluted Water that comes from distilling Slime into Algae can be resupplied to your Pufts for more Polluted Oxygen. SOunds sustainable to me! If you want, Pufts can be upgraded to Puft Princes, the most efficient producer of Slime in the game, or the Green Squeaky Puft that refines Chlorine into Bleach Stone or the Blue Puft that makes Oxylite from Oxygen without wasting Gold. Pacus can also be upgraded to beautiful Tropical Pacus. Just use the remaining 6 Pacus from the Printing Pod. Upgrade them to the Tropical Pacu version and make a fish tank below the great hall using glass window tiles. It provides an unbelievable decor bonus. To avoid wasting your algae, KEEP FISH WILD. Instead of Fish Feederss use an Automatic Dispenser at Priority One to drop in Algae once every cycle. To prevent dupes from feeding the Pacus too much, use a Weight Plate where the algae drops to allow an Auto Sweeper to pick up excess Algae. Also, in Ottwo's world, instead of a water sieve to filter Polluted Water into clean water, upgrade a Pacu into a Blue Gulp Fish. They do not need Algae, but instead eat Polluted Water from their pool and "excrete" normal water. No sand needed! Hope this is a good suggestion.
I'm not sure, but my pacus get tamed after they eated from the feeder, so no needed anything else. :) I don't really understand your final setup with the convoy loaders/chutes... I think there is a plus bridge that isn't needed. Also, I love your videos, and I learned from you so much, thanks man and keep these videos coming ;)
I have an idea, when delivering algae, why don't you use conveyor receptacle instead of conveyor chute. With this the delivery is no endless. Also, there should be a functionality where dups are not allowed to access some machines depending on the settings on the machine itself.
Paku tame by the auto feeder. Also they consume 140k/cycle of algae and produce polluted dirt (70kg) Untamed they produce 1 egg per life cycle. Tamed they produce 16 eggs per life cycle
I mentioned most shortcuts in the beginning of the series. As a little tip, whenever you hover over an icon the corresponding shortcut is in the tooltip.
When you set up the liquid element sensor, can't you just change red to whatever you want filtered and put green on all? I don't own the game so I'm not sure if you can do it that way instead of using a not-gate. I have to ask since I've seen you do it so many times and it bothers me every time. I also noticed that you're dropping all the non fish eggs down your new ladder.
I fixed the ladder thing after the episode:) You can only chose one thing in the element sensor, which is why you have to do it with a not gate. If you are certain there are only 2 things going through your pipes you can do it without a not gate by selecting the one that you want to expel out of the pipe.
Just FYI, the t is silent in fillet, more like "fillay". English is weird. Also you should think about setting up a live stream. It would be nice to donate to the channel.
It depends on the region you're in, fillay and fillet are both accepted pronunciations. In my language it is also fillay btw, but fillet seems more consistent in English, which is why I chose this pronunciation.
Both pronunciations are accepted in English, probably depending on where you live. Since I'm not an English speaker I picked the one that is more consistent with the pronunciation rules.

This was such an entertaining episode, with the dupes trying their absolute best to get algae into those feeders!
Hehe these little buggers!
One of the other commenters already said but the space you opened for your ladder is leading to a free-fall experience for your eggs!
lol you're right.

That’s incredible! I feel we may have passed the level of food per tile that should be allowed even with that food storage exploit! Amazing!
👍

Good point, will fix the weight plate in the next episode.
"Goodb...What the hell are you doing?" 🤣🤣🤣
Just when I wanted to wrap up the episode;)

Thanks for all the tips, definitely a comment I'll keep in mind for the future.
Keep doing the series!!! I love it so much!
I will!
your duplicants are so eager to work they even pick up algae through the wall lol.... amazing
Hehe
Sounds like you got a cold, hope you get well soon if so. Great video again of course!
Thanks:)
8:58 Everyone else: 23.3 metric tons / 2kg per cycle = 11,650 cycles
Nathan: 11,650 = "a couple of cycles"
It turns out the plan of feeding them so little doesn't add up.
Nobody has mentioned yet that since you're on the DLC, nosh beans are a very good fish food.
Never tried them, thanks for the hint!
Since the beans themselves are seeds, and you get quite a few from domesticated plants, it is certainly an option.
Pacu, universally considered delicious.

Good idea to limit it somewhat!
Jean:"Yay , I'm daddy's fav now!"
Ren:" I took that personal".

it's a shame there isn't a "disable duplicant use" button on items
Would be handy!
Great episode, again 😀

thank you

I messed that a little up in the next episode excuse I recorded it before I read your comment, but will clarify the episode after that.
Hey Nathan, just wanted to ask you if you could make an episode for short cuts. Like copying a building selected for faster building. Thanks.
I mentioned most shortcuts in the beginning of the series. As a little tip, whenever you hover over an icon the corresponding shortcut is in the tooltip.
@@Nathans-Sandbox thanks I'll go back and see. Keep the series going loving it.
Great video!
Thanks!
I was hoping for another vulcano update when they became active. We have yet so see it working.
The second erruption went well. Will do an update with the next erruption when both volcanos errupt at almost the same time.
You could download the mod that adds an option to all buildings to allow manual use.
I had no idea that existed!
In the end dupes reach the algae again before door is lock
Is fixed now with the next episodes;)
How will that drecko lay an egg if there is noone to fertilize it? ;P

Is it a bit weird how critters can breathe a vaccume just fine but can't breathe in water very well?

@@Nathans-Sandbox That's interesting. I wasn't aware of that. McDonalds has led me astray once again!!
Sorry, I don’t normally correct pronunciation, but it’s fill-AY, not fill-ET
Weird pronunciation exists because the word is of French derivation, and they don’t pronounce their ts, so to them it looks like it’s spelled fill-AY.
Both pronunciations are accepted in English, probably depending on where you live. Since I'm not an English speaker I picked the one that is more consistent with the pronunciation rules.

I hate logical gates
They are useful and not mandatory, so I don't see your point.
