The first duel against mayakashi seems like the opponent was just BM'ing during his turn. I could be wrong but they kept activating the negated monster's effect over & over again & with how much card advantage u were generating, I don't see how special summoning even more was gonna help them...
Can you not deck out to Maxx c if they keep special summoning? Also never play the deck but some monster effects still just play out even if negated no?
It was bone towers effect that kept on activating due to monsters being special summoned. Perhaps he was attempting the Maxx C challenge. If not for Nibiru he would have decked out.

U-link eliminates the point of the regulation. You're either playing into the rules or going rogue. Rule abiding players get screwed when they can't play, and rogue decks make the link only rule semi-pointless. But yeah, also selling the new pack
