As great as Misfits are, Hardcore and Thrash were already firmly established before Earth AD released in December '83. Earth AD itself being hardcore meets Speed Metal. Speed Metal itself being the precursor to Thrash which was already established before Earth AD. Nu metal came from RATM and Primus, certainly NOT Misfits and no death metal band was ever influenced by Misfits either.

Will Rahmer is the fucking best. We played Chicago Domination Fest together. He didn’t say a word but as soon as we ended our set we wanted to take a pic with all the band and him…he took our phone himself and did a pic with each of us singularly hahah what a sick fucking guy. Total legend.
People who complain about the horror intros to Tish songs are posers who have no business listening to them. As a huge Horror fan, I love all the intros. I'm currently trying to complete my Mortician horror movie collection. Every film from a Tish song brahs. Can't wait for the new album! Also, we need reissues of Domain of Death!
Growing up I would use the intros of Mortician songs as a way to find good horror movies to watch. That’s how I found some really good movies like Pieces, Deranged, and a lot of the Lucio Fulci stuff. A lot of the more well known movies I had already seen by that time like Dawn of the Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
torsofuck's erotic diarrhea fantasy has movie intros and a drum machine but the intros aren't super indulgent (except for maybe the opening track) and all the songs flow together better - nothing against the tish but house by the cemetery for example is at best 55% music and 45% samples - way too much
Known Will from seeing Mortician many time in TX and EACH TIME talking to him...was nothing but killer. Remembers ya, and even remembers past conversations...always and total respect
I love the Mortician intros. It's fun trying to pinpoint which horror movie they came from. Mortician's intros have introduced me to a ton of pretty awesome obscure horror films I haven't heard of before.

Back in 2004, I was 17 and ordered The Hacked up for BBQ and Zombie Split from a Cd shop in my little Southern Ontario town. It took months to arrive and I remember picking it up and bringing it home to the country side road house we lived in. It felt like I was opening the book of the dead in the evil dead movies. It was Gold. Huge Mortician Fan up in Toronto! If I had to pick one song House by the Cemetary.
I managed. They didn't cost as much as the ticket, flight and hotel I recently paid for to see them in Clifton NJ on December 7. Flying from Toronto to Newark to see my favorite death metal band. Haha!!

For me this was the best interview so far J-Dawg. As a huge horror fan and a huge death metal fan mortician are like the perfect steak with a glass of the greatest fine wine. One of the best bands in metal for me. Sadly due to being in the U.K. and money being tight I have not seen them as I would have to travel to the states, but I hope I will be able to see them one day. Absolutely legendary 100% in my top 10 bands of all time. I remember listening to house by the cemetery at like 12/13 and it absolutely blew me away!
I saw Mortician 3 times here in London, got Will, Roger and Sam to sign my cds! Will was very cool. When he signed with my silver pen it leaked out over one of the booklets and because of that he very kindly went straight to their merch table, swapped the ruined cover for a brand new one and then re-signed it!!
I gotta say, just hearing this guy talk brings it all back. What a fucking cool guy and great interview. I loved Mortician back in the day but had kinda lost touch really. I was chatting with the guy from Relapse a few years ago, Matt I think is his name. I was telling him that Mortician was the best band on Relapse and that Will looked and sounded like a real tough guy! He answered, "A real tough guy?, this guy has always lived with Mom and Dad and he still does at almost 50 years old!". I said to myself "So what? Will is still a real metalhead and one of the pioneers of death metal". Really, I found it cheap to talk badly like that about a guy who is part of Relapse's history. Relapse is shit now.
Life is pretty expensive depending what area but damn he seems bitter or something oh well , Will made history , underground or something but it’s marked in relapse history
I must add that I have no idea if it's true that Will lives with his parents. I just recounted what the guy from Relapse told me. Whether that's true or not doesn't change anything for me and my appreciation of Mortician. More power to Will!
@icankillbugs I have one of my sons who still lives with his mother and me. He is almost 30 years old, and his girlfriend also lives with her parents. My son explained to me that they want our help to save money and buy land to build a house. He plans to leave home in a year or two. That's absolutely no problem! I also have a 17 year old son and a 15 year old daughter who live with us. They can stay here as long as they want.
I ( along with many more ) would love a new album from Mortician. Thank you for this interview and Will / Roger if you see this.. stay healthy and please make it happen.
I got to hang out with Mortician and Skinless at a hotel after a show in the early 2000s. Will was cool as shit and I got to talk horror movies with Roger. Lots of Coors light. I'll never forget it. Tied for best memory with getting to hang with Seth Putnum.

I could imagine what that must have been like at the time with a new Friday the 13th coming out every year. It really does sound like a holiday crackin beers in the theater with your buds watching Jason! My friends and I still crack cold ones to the Friday films. Must have been a whole different experience in the 80s at the theater though.
I love Mortician and really wanna get that new album, but it's fucking ridiculous to have gone 19 years without a new album. Even doing it all via the internet, cuz let's be real, as much as we love Mortician this isn't exactly complicated music. Hell, the primitive nature of the band is part of the charm. They should have had at least 4 full lengths out over the last 20 years if not more.
Will is so laid back. Met up with him at his place in Yonkers years ago bc he needed to borrow my bass head for a show he was playing. He gave me a few Mortician CDs. Cool dude 🤘

I was chatting with the guy from Relapse a few years ago, Matt I think is his name. I was telling him that Mortician was the best band on Relapse and that Will looked and sounded like a real tough guy! He answered, "A real tough guy?, this guy has always lived with Mom and Dad and he still does at almost 50 years old!". I said to myself "So what? Will is still a real metalhead and one of the pioneers of death metal". Really, I found it cheap to talk badly like that about a guy who is part of Relapse's history. Relapse is shit now.
That is kind of a douchebag thing to say. Relapse has been shit for nearly 20 years now haha
Life is pretty expensive depending what area but damn he seems bitter or something oh well , Will made history , underground or something but it’s marked in relapse history
I must add that I have no idea if it's true that Will lives with his parents. I just recounted what the guy from Relapse told me. Whether that's true or not doesn't change anything for me and my appreciation of Mortician. More power to Will!
@icankillbugs I have one of my sons who still lives with his mother and me. He is almost 30 years old, and his girlfriend also lives with her parents. My son explained to me that they want our help to save money and buy land to build a house. He plans to leave home in a year or two. That's absolutely no problem! I also have a 17 year old son and a 15 year old daughter who live with us. They can stay here as long as they want.

I got to hang out with Mortician and Skinless at a hotel after a show in the early 2000s. Will was cool as shit and I got to talk horror movies with Roger. Lots of Coors light. I'll never forget it. Tied for best memory with getting to hang with Seth Putnum.
Folks that have been down with Mortician since the 90s know how COOL this is!

I could imagine what that must have been like at the time with a new Friday the 13th coming out every year. It really does sound like a holiday crackin beers in the theater with your buds watching Jason! My friends and I still crack cold ones to the Friday films. Must have been a whole different experience in the 80s at the theater though.

I love Mortician and really wanna get that new album, but it's fucking ridiculous to have gone 19 years without a new album. Even doing it all via the internet, cuz let's be real, as much as we love Mortician this isn't exactly complicated music. Hell, the primitive nature of the band is part of the charm. They should have had at least 4 full lengths out over the last 20 years if not more.

Saw his interview with Dying Fetus. Garza seems like he just discovered metal yesterday. Weird for a guy with such a reputation as this big metal podcaster in the metal scene. Then again, not weird considering the poser band he is from.
@@odinsire3879 that’s the case with the deathcore scene in general, most of them only listen to deathcore and know virtually no other styles of metal, besides garbage ass djent or something (which isn’t metal at all)
Whereas a trad heavy metal guy might also like some thrash and power metal, death metal guy might also like black metal and doom, etc.
