Thanks for comment Jason. Such a shame I had technical difficulty with the shots of the trenches and cemetery itself…maybe a short video in due course because both are AMAZING. Pas de Calais, Flanders and Most of northern France for that matter are packed with WW1 and WW2 history if you know where to look! Ride/drive safe 👍
Just started watching this series, looks great so far. We did a WW1 & WW2 tour in July down to Oradour sur Glane after finding some of the graves of the teams family members. We are off to Switzerland in July this year. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the comment. Glad you’ve enjoyed it so far. Oradour is high on my to do list. An incredible experience by all accounts. In the final episode of this series we go to Natzweiler concentration camp which is a truly harrowing experience. But overall an amazing trip. Ride safe!
Good day to you! I am a senior rider on HONDA Cross Cub from Japan. I am enjoying camping, touring and upload video. This is so nice adventure video! Awesome! Have a nice day my friend!
When I visited the Commonwealth War cemetery at Monte Casino in Italy decades ago the grass was lush and green, unlike the surrounding area it was watered every day.
Hi David. This one at Souchez was very well cared for, I just think the heatwave last summer was so long and drawn out that they couldn’t keep on top of it. Still very well manicured and respectful though.
Would be great to see more of the route you took in more detail, as planning a trip to Switzerland to see ride up the alps. Any suggestions or advice would be great as I like historical routes.
Hi Gregory, thanks very much for the comment. If you take a look at my TH-cam profile, there should be a link to “MyRouteApp”. That’s the site I use to plot the routes. You should be able to download them from there. You can then play around with them to suit you!
Batteries! Curious things. Some years ago mine died after a long Motorway trek with some 90 miles to go to our destination. Sudden Battery Death Syndrome.
It was a pretty shocking start to an otherwise brilliant trip. Lesson learned! Do you know what, it hadn’t even occurred to me that I’d made such an epic pun 😂 Thanks for comment Mike 👍
@@thehistorybiker - a pleasure and it didn't stop there, later on at the WW1 site there was mention of it being "dead quiet" which was a reference to there not being hordes of tourists rather than a deliberate pun!
@@mikedowning4603 Yes that one I did catch and immediately realised what I’d said! That bit is a shame actually because I had lots of images and footage of the site that is pretty awe inspiring to visit. But technical issues in the edit meant they didn’t work. La Main De Massiges it’s called though. Well worth a look!
Great video. There is so so much to see and do in England/Europe. Planning a European trip in 2023. I'll be arriving from Australia and will be renting/purchasing a bike for a 40 -60 day trip. Would like to know what costs one might expect per day. Would be interested to know how you managed daily costs. Your advice/information would be greatly appreciated.
Hi George, thanks so much for the comment. You’ll be spoilt for choice on a tour of that length. My advice would be to decide beforehand what you want to see beforehand and then you can build your route and accommodation around that. Cost varies massively across the continent with cheapest fuel/food/hotels the further east you go. Switzerland, Luxembourg etc are particularly pricey. As a very VERY rough guide I would allow between £150-£200 (GBP) per day which will cover a decent enough hotel, fuel for 200-300 miles and food and a few beers in the evening. I can’t vouch for bike hire on the continent though - you may want to double that cost to include hire. This 9-day trip cost me about £1,600 all in.
This is really great. I always wanted advice on touring Europe. To listen to a half wit talking about how he does not want to show your boring motorways, repetitively referring to how he knew nothing about his battery is just farked, but it really is enlightening if you want to listen to nothing and waste your time. Go ahead mate, waste everyone else's time
Hi Thomas. Sorry this hasn’t floated your boat. Motorcycle touring videos aren’t to everyone’s tastes. Just doing this channel to journal my own interest and maybe give people some alternative bits to see on their rides. Sorry it’s offended you so much.
Brilliant video and very helpful re places to visit.
Thanks

Great job Jack, looking forward to part II👍🤔👌
Cheers Gareth. It was an amazing trip - great to be touring properly again!
Brilliant Jack, looking forward to seeing part two 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Bad luck with that flat battery but it made me laugh when you said "it was the traction control light that threw me off" the irony of it!
