Yellowstone Walks - Walking FairyFalls to Grand Prismatic - 4K Virtual Travel Walking Treadmill

Another Yellowstone hike for you today in our video 4K City Walks - Walking FairyFalls to Grand Prismatic - Virtual Travel Walking Treadmill. The smokey skies are from the fires in California and a smaller one nearby. This walk is actually split into two sections. We start off at Fairy Falls trailhead and head over towards the Grand Prismatic lookout. We don't actually go to Fairy Falls but we do get a great overlook of flats around Grand Prismatic as well. From here you can see the stunning colors. We descend down back to the trail and switch over to the grand prismatic boardwalk were we cross the Firehole River and get a closeup view of Grand Prismatic and several other geysers.

Good morning! Yes, the soils in Yellowstone are dry and, well, volcanic. Lends itself to dust. The CA, OR, WA wildfire smoke is making our air quality terrible but otherwise things are good. Thanks. Hope they are well with you as well. -H

Grand Prismatic is so amazing. We loved our Yellowstone visit. Glacier still beats it for me but the Grand Prismatic alone put Yellowstone in my sister's top parks list, as well it should be. :)

Nice walk, thanks. My trip was in Sept of 2001. Wasn’t sure I’d get to go following 9/11 but flights came back and I was on one of the 1st flights from Houston to Minneapolis, and then to Bozeman. We nearly had the park to ourselves. When friends see my pics they always ask “where are all the other people?” So my experience is quite different than yours - crowd-wise (plus I think going in mid to late Sept you’ll find fewer people anyways). Still to this day I consider Yellowstone one of the greatest trips I’ve ever had! Iceland actually reminded me of Yellowstone. Thanks again.

City Walks - I hate to hear that. The same happened at Yosemite. It’s packed and difficult to get anything done there. I’ve been hitting up my state’s smaller parks just to find quiet, and now looking at Arkansas or parts of Oklahoma to get away.... i was enjoying some off-season small crowd places in Britain before the pandemic (I came back to a totally different world). Looking forward to getting back there too.
I really enjoy your work. In fact, my last day in London in March 6th I combined 3 of your walks and had a great day. Was supposed to be in the Lauterbrunnen valley even as I’m typing this.... and was going to follow your walks there too. Oh well. Will try again another day.

I stopped before we went out on the boardwalks very much because there were too many people. But I am going to reassess my housing addition because the next street over is called "fairy falls". I've always thought in terms of fairies and a little water fall. Now I will have to investigate it a bit more. I live on a hill and I hope it is not a dormant volcano (joking). I am glad I opted for this one first and the next will be the Grand Prismatic. Thanks so much , and I always appreciate your having your bear spray handy...

This Wyoming girl, transplanted to a different state (that doesn’t have a view), really enjoys your videos while I’m on the treadmill. Makes me miss my home. I had to laugh at one of your comments “Starting to look like a theme park here”-said with absolute contempt. I totally agree, lol! It wouldn’t be so bad, except that people don’t respect the land-as you pointed out with the mask being left on the ground. Not to mention kids doing exactly what the signs say not to do. Thanks so much for making me feel like I’ve taken a quick trip back home.

I don't think so. It's just a spring in a geyser basin that has been depositing minerals for thousands of years. -H

This reminds me of the story of John Colter, the man who described geothermal activity he found in Yellowstone in 1807, but nobody believed him and mockingly called it "Colter's Hell".
