You can use higher-end paper towels like Viva or Bounty under the nylon knee highs for improved filtration. I was looking at just using paper towels, but you need some kind of netting or screen material to hold the paper towels in place.
brilliant! I was searching everywhere for a replacement and could NOT find anything promising. I bought something out of desperation from amazon hoping they would fit. They are about $3 per piece and I was thinking, in just about 3 weeks, knowing myself, I would tear thru them all (the original filter was torn in less than 5 mins, my bad, I didn't know they don't really stretch that much). @OWK000 I was thinking maybe dryer sheets under the pant hose. Lol. They too are breathable... And the smell good too. So I'd assume it'd work like an air freshener while also acting as a prefilter. Lol. I'm all for dual purpose items... Especially ones that smell good. Lol.
Great idea. I have the same little vac. I have the exhaust vented out through a window with another hose on the exhaust port but I'm still smelling and sensing fine dust in the air in the room when I use it. Why the heck would that be if it's vented properly out a window?
Dust leaks because the vac housing isn't completely airtight. Higher-end home vacuums like Miele have expensive filters and a completely airtight seal.

perhaps dust can be pushed out the seam of the two halves, you could test by wrapping tape around.
