Golesh might be to Heupel what Cutcliff was to Fulmer. When Cutcliff was here we won, when he left we lost, when he came back we won, when he left we lost.

Completely different offense since Golesh left. I thought last year was maybe just a down year with all the talent that left and Milton running the offense. Not the case, it's painfully obvious the play calling/offensive gameplans have been pedestrian at best since 22. So far this year the play calling is almost identical to last year. I'm convinced JH is not the offensive guru he's been painted as, great coach and recruiter but I think Golesh was the wizard behind the curtain of that 22 "gimmic" offense.

Squirrel is too small, Nico got rocked in the Oklahoma game and is now seeing ghosts, Bru, bless his heart, still a dawg but possibly lost a step, offensive line has been a problem since the Dooley era, Sampson is a superstar unless you need him to block. Same Tennessee since forever. Yeah they'll have a great season here and there but 8-4 ,9-3 thats typical

Yeah its so obvious Alex Golesh is the missing link. Been saying it since last year especially with the tempo. His in-game play calling & adjustments were polished & you can see the difference. Everyone blamed Joe for all the offensive woes but he looked better in 21 & 22. We're running the same schemes & tempo as last year. We're supposed to have better talent & more depth than last year but we gotten basically the same results this year with a better qb & more depth at WR 🤷🏽‍♂️. Take away Darnell Wright & insert Lance Heard like Mincey the year before.

That’s the kind of kid Nico needs to play his game best!!!

Also, let's NOT forget about the crucial personal fouls we had.. giving them the ball right back after roughing the kicker

I think Ark is better than a lot of people think. They are 24th in FPI. They were definitely fired up and so was the crowd. Our tackles are still hurt. Penalties really killed any chance to get momentum and the stadium was going nuts over it. These new clock rules are also impacting scores. less time = less possessions. I'm noticing this has more effect during the 1st half, especially for the team that kicks. We had 4 drives in the first half, only 23 plays. I know we don't Nico hurt yet he does have to start running it like he did vs Iowa. That's a big part of what the O has been missing. Also, seems like it was a big mistake to have everyone take a mini vacation on the bye week. They played like they were out of focus, hungover, and out of shape.

Nico was 5 years older than Nico. Can't compare.

NIL should be based on preference on field. Lazy players or slow and weak play should have a pay cut. Players can take advantage of money.

Is it not possible that by this point more teams have figured out how to defend this offense? After 2022 you know a lot of coaches had to start focusing on that.

The offense wasn't complicated to begin with. It just puts strain on the defense and if they don't have the athletes to win matchups then things get ugly for the defense. However, even though the offense wasn't complicated, the playcalling was still clever and unpredictable. Now though, it's very predictable and vanilla, and it's like the defense knows what's coming. There's a clear difference in the style of playcalling

Yeah we need Mike Mathew's out there. McCoy doesn't need to be returning punts we need him healthy. Carter or seldon need to return punts/kickoffs

There's very little tempo to the offense. The conservative play calling is atrocious. Last year if Milton made a mistake they ran the ball for the next three series, this year it's the same with Nico. I'm not sure what the staff is watching, but these game plans are bad. Maybe Golesh had more fire and commanded effort resulting in more motivation from the players. Banks and Halzle both seem to just go through the motions in interviews, and it's hard to play for a guy that seems like they don't care. I think Inge and Garner have that fire, and that's why you see results.
