This episode was karmic justice at play here. This was maybe the one episode where this pack was opened and someone decided to actually lean into the Lair cards instead of the Dark World cards and it paid off dividends

@Dzeeff Vicious Claw was used by the Supreme King in GX. In the anime Evil Heros did not need Dark Fusion to be summoned, or at least could be summoned with Super Polymerization. First, the Supreme King equipped it to Evil HERO Malicious Edge to raise it's attack to 2900 then he attacked Axel's Volcanic Doomfire who had 3000 attack. Claw protected Edge from destruction and sent itself back to the hand while at the same time destroying Volcanic Hammer(?). The Token spawning effect was a set-up for Super Poly and Claw sending itself back to the hand was fodder for Super Poly discard cost - which allowed him to fuse Evil HERO Malicious Edge + Token = Evil HERO Malicious Fiend. That's not the only Evil HERO card nerfed, Infernal Prodigy was a draw directly after tribute summon rather than at the end phase and Infernal Sniper was a straight 1000 burn every Main Phase rather than Standby Phase. Infernal Prodigy was also not restricted to HEROS. Vicious Claw could have been a staple in Evil HEROs as a set-up for Fiend or Dark Gaia summoning if they kept super poly at full strength. I appreciate the rule change applying to all packs and not just the ones that lose. I prefer when everything gets an even playing field to find which is the worst

I have to go for Thunder Giant I remember watching the anime and thinking it was so cool being able to pop anything under 2400 having only ever played with the Yugioh starter deck and overestimating the power level of Thunder Giant. I would of laughed if MBT lost Game 1 because he thought the Lair boss monster was just a special summoned 3k beater. The Lair deck just got so tired of Doug hating on it that it decided to give MBT the best pulls they could to beat Doug.
The problem with this series is that I see a deck like Lair and it makes me go "damn, I should build this" and then I build it, and get my shit kicked in at locals because it was only good in a sealed environment
Game 1 MBT could've summmoned diabolos a turn earlier (ahrima tribute dark world guy, add diabolos, he triggers, then tribute opponent mon with him. And you can play around his effect by not having any cards in hand.....
I feel like maybe there should be a rule that if a pack lost, it can't be spun the very next episode. In most cases, the DW pack would have been left as one of the last packs, but since it just got spun like 5 times while a bunch of other packs weren't spun at all yet, it now looks comes out "better" than a bunch of others.

Lair making the Heroes dark attribute was actually a bad thing. If Dzeeff could summon Acid he could have wiped the lair off the field.
