I remember I had a cassette walkman when I was younger - the shift in technology in such a short time is wild to look back on, it wasn't too many years before I had my first iPod.
Interview with a Vampire is such a classic! I didn't read it until my 20's though. I didn't actually watch all of the Twilight movies until a few years ago either, but they're perfect trashy background watching now 😂
This is fun! Looking at who we were as teens is such a wild tunnel to travel through. You said "I'm still the same person" which is true but like, almost a reverse vampire transformation 😂 where we are the vamp as a teen and then evolve to the person we are now. Thanks for sharing!
I love this! Tarot of Vampyres and Dark Wood Tarot are definitely for my inner teen too. I can’t believe that Tarot of Vampyres is finally going out of print 😔 the book is one of the best guidebooks ever written
I remember bebo!! I love this. Also i have to tell you that one of the main characters in the book I'm writing is named Sylvie because I just think it's the loveliest name
Haha Bebo!!! I mean that's going back 🙈 funny how similar we were as teenagers 😅 brought a lot of memories back 🙊 definitely has me thinking of my teen years 😅 now I'm going to have a look at my decks!!
Apparently Bebo was relaunched a few years ago, but shut down again. Probably for the best 😂 Let me know what your teenage decks would be! Mainly because I'm nosey.
@TarotMagpie haha no way?!?! 😅 ya, I can't see it being much of a thing nowadays, but my was it the thing back then 😅 gosh, I miss them simpler times 🙈 haha I definitely think the Dark Wood Tarot would suit my teen self 😅 moody and a little misunderstood 😅🙈 definitely want to do a VR to this 🧡✨️
Loved this exploration of your teenage years! I knew way too many of the references hahaha, oh man, can't believe I was a teen so long ago now 🥴 but loved the decks featured as well.
I can definitely relate to the description of you as a teen 😂 except I had a flip phone and a CD player because I am ancient! I made the same exact reference to Taylor Momsen when reviewing the Tarot of Vampyres 🤭 so uncanny! The Wild Unknown tarot hurts my eyes so much, a glimpse of it gives me an instant migrane 🤯
It's interesting me that though we grew up an ocean apart, the cultural references still hit so hard. 😂 I would have LOVED Tarot of Vampyres and Bonefire. Definitely speaks the fantasy me I felt as a teen! Thanks for sharing 😊
This is a really fun idea and video! I'm also almost 30 so those references really hit home for me xD My decks of choice would me the Tarot of the Magical Forest (I did a lot with animals), the Deviant Moon (angsty teen) and Zeke's Arcana (which I don't own, but I dressed like a rainbow basically every day, or full black, those were the 2 options).
At Taylor momsen i had this memory unlocked: a)gossip girl the original run but also b) in 2024 for two weeks I shadowed at kerrang and all of a sudden from my indie / dream pop I got thrown head first into MCR, the pretty reckless, biffy clyro, bring me the horizon all that kind of stuff and honestly? I wasn't an emo teenager but I definitely got to be an emo semi-adult after that 😅
If my trivia brain is serving me, the Wild Unknown came out as early as 2013? Indie, and then 2014 mass market. Okay, I checked and her website says it was originally published in *2012.* Wow. I looooooove the Wildwood, but you have to meet it where it is. Don't try to map what you know about tarot onto it, just let the road rise to meet your foot. Or something.
I think I'm sort of 'saving' the Wildwood for when I feel a little burnt out on tarot, I think it'll be different enough to re-interest me (hopefully, lol)
Only just started the video, but BEBO Edit after watching the whole video: it’s wild that we grew up so near each other and traversing similar bits of the internet living these parallel teen-hoods, I remember going to Bath Odeon to watch the first Twilight when it came out hahaha. Loved this insight into teen Sylvie and now my eyes are scanning my collection to see what my picks would be
Would love to see what your picks are! It is very cool to me that we were like, basically next door to each other in the grand scheme of things and that our online selves have since collided!
Love this although I’m now feeling very old as my teenage years were pre mobile phones and internet. I had a Walkman though 😂
SAME! 😅
I remember I had a cassette walkman when I was younger - the shift in technology in such a short time is wild to look back on, it wasn't too many years before I had my first iPod.
I had a vampire phase as a teenager. Mine was fueled they the Anne Rice books though, well before Twilight! Tarot of Vampyres is all the Lestat vibes!

'reverse vampire transformation' - I love that!

That deck matches my teenage vampire-loving self too. I was a teenager before Twilight, thankfully.

It's feeling so long ago now! Yesterday I overheard someone say 'I can't stay up past midnight now, I'm 23' and I nearly withered away right there 😅
@@TarotMagpie LMAO noooo too young 😂
LOVE this! I need to check if I have any I could show for a VR :)
I would love to see a VR! 💖
Holy shit yes i know exactly what you mean Taylor Momsen in that card, i saw that immediately as well

Oh no that is not fun about the wild unknown! Especially because it is everywhere 😅

Omg I am never not on a MCR kick! MCR + Fall Out Boy were the heavy hitters on the soundtrack to my teen-hood, and they have not gone anywhere

@@TarotMagpie I think that's a perfect idea! It's definitely its Own Thing and I do think that'll be potentially really healing to burnout.

Young Sylvie sounds rad
She was so not cool at the time, but thank god she stayed weird lol
