    using the exact same one to type on this comment, its currently running ubuntu and i use it for watching and streaming music works good for just 120gb of storage and 1gb of ram

    I have the same machine running the latest Ventura. It's okay for surfing, music and some basic tasks, but other than that, it's showing his age.

      How did you get macOS Ventura on that thing ?

    • @skaerf

      I’m assuming he used OpenCore Legacy Patcher - I use it as well on a 2014 Macbook Pro so I can use Xcode lol

      Mine has only 2gb of ram and if I try it I guess the whole thing will get unusable or am I wrong?

    • @skaerf
      @skaerf ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wouldn’t be unusable but it would definitely be slow. The machine I have is an i7 with 16GB RAM; it definitely still goes but not like it did. It might end up struggling for basic tasks so if you actually want to use it day to day you might be better just using the old OS

      That's what I thought and it'll be better to leave it like it is . It's ridiculous when like I've got open TH-cam watching a video and out of blue the fan kicks in and it's like it's about to take off 🤣

    I had an Macbook Mid 2010, and I had upgraded to the Catalina Patcher which runs full on 64-bits..your devices can run it well since it supports it the same like my Macbook version Late 2009/2010..

      The fact that mine has only 2GB ram concerns me and I think it will be crazy slow

      @@sdyt263 that is bad but you could go at least Mojave Patcher that supports the 2GB of ram and still using the same 32-bits same as your current High Sierra..it could be your next hope for using it as the next version of APFS.

    Yes I still have it from Apple 🍎 refurbished 🎉 I use it for exactly what you state. Getting a refresh from the Genius Bar this week I 😂wonder if I can get one last the next operating system. Opencore? What should I get next to last this long a 2011 or 2012?

      I want to get the MacBook Air with the M1 chip but it’s expensive. On the other hand I’ve seen online that some 2012 MacBook can be upgraded ( ram and ssd) so if you are on badger that might be an option to consider but that depends on what you gonna use it for . Now if you looking for a machine to last the same amount of years then a 2019 or 2020 model will be a great choice but that depends again on your budget

      I picked one up on eBay for £15 with no battery (got a new one for £30) also no charger (got a new one for £13) so all in £58, it’s great as a browser and office tasks and the glowing Apple logo is the best !! 😊

      To upgrade the ram you have to disolder the existing ram and then solder back the upgraded one which requires experience to do so .

    Is it possible to install an old version of garageband on it?

    • @sdyt263
      @sdyt263  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess yes . I can't confirm it though because I have upgraded this MBA late 2010 from macos high sierra to big Sur. The easiest way to do it though is to log in to a newer version of app store on a newer macos just so you can have the app on your apple id and then on your MBA you can grab it from the "purchased " apps . It works the same way on iPhones
      PS: a quick search suggests that you can get the garageband app from macos 10.3 and onwards so if you running macos high sierra then most likely you won't have any issues installing it !

      Occasionally I watch TH-cam on 1080p resolution but let’s say if I have couple of tabs open along with TH-cam the video get buffering… 2gb of ram on my MacBook Air 2010 ain’t enough sometimes even for basic stuff

      @ThePgR777 you’re right . I like the design of the MacBook Air and sometimes I’m like “what if I try to desolder the ram and upgrade it “” but I don’t have experience with soldering stuff so whenever I use my MacBook I’ve top up myself with patience 🤣 . I wish I had a MacBook Pro 2012 which is upgradable in terms of ram and ssd where this MacBook Air is upgradable only in terms of ssd and even that needs an adapter to fit and work properly

    • @sdyt263

      @ThePgR777 it’s been like that for even , MacBook Pro it’s always more expensive compared to the Air .
