Also, besides everything else, many tourists come here from Europe, from different places of the world, including from USA, many of them live here, opening their various businesses, of course, many of them are Ukrainians, Russians, Belarusians and so on. It's not true that they weren't liked. You have apostles like Paul looking up to Greek philosophers, you have Greek church fathers praising them in their theological works. Ancient Greek philosophy influenced Christianity, while great church figures came from Greeks that were debated out of paganism.
No, Christians did not opose greek philosophy, Aristotle was reffered as the 'Philosopher' by St. Thomas Aquinas. Marsillio Ficino referred to Plato as the 'divine Plato' and to Iamblichus as also divine. The Academy was closed because Justinian wanted to clear the Empire from crypto pagans.
