- Prime Rib on a Pellet Grill for Beginners can be a little scary but trust me, it is easier than it looks! With beef prices being pretty high right now, you do not want to screw up any primal cut, even if it is a Choice Prime Rib. So follow all of these easy steps and I can almost guarantee your prime rib will turn out close to perfection like this one. You don't have to french bone your prime rib or even get a bone-in prime rib, just get a prime rib you can afford!! I have used these same techniques when I am cooking prime rib on all kinds of different types of pellet grill, or even just in the oven!! So follow how I ran my Traeger Timberline Pellet Grill and you will have a bunch of happy prime rib eaters for sure! If you like your prime rib done a tad more go up another 5 degrees or so and enjoy!! Thanks for watching and leave me a comment below if you tried this out!!!

Oh man looks so good. for some reason I like prime ribs on the pellet grill the most!
Thanks Rusty!!! Dude I completely agree, It just has a complete flavor!! Now I love cooking them on my Santa Maria but that is a once a year event because of the work that goes a long with running it on that pit. But flavor, I add some charred hickory with some oak pellets and nobody has ever told me that they didn't like that smoke flavor combo. Thanks for watching brother!!!
Another great video. Congrats on going full time with this in 2024. Hoping you do well with it.
Thank you, I am looking forward to just making content, I do enjoy my day job but time to focus on one thing!! I appreciate you watching!!

100% Mike!!! Thanks for watching bro and I hope all is good!!!!
Looks good 👍 we were all sick as heck for Christmas this year. So I did my prime rib in the oven this time, not as good as off the pit but not bad considering the circumstances.
Dang bro, that sucks but at least you had some great eats!!! Thanks for watching!!
This is absolutely the best Prime Rib video we've ever seen. Invite us next time though!

Twig of Thyme? Wasn't that a Deep Purple song? LOL Great looking prime rib Ricer.
Hahahaha it might have been one of their songs?!?!?! Thanks for watching brother!!!
Many years ago, on Christmas day, I was smoking a prime rib on my Hasty Bake. I left the hood open and a spark flew into my fence covered in dry winter ivy. It caught on fire and almost burned me and my next-door neighbor's house. The fire department came and carefully avoided the Prime Rib and snuffed out the fire. The new fence cost me a $1000 and it is a Christmas we still talk about.
Dang Jay!!! It certainly could have been a lot worse!!! Seems like all of us have a christmas prime rib story!! About 8 years-ish ago, it was waaaaayyy below zero on Christmas day here and I punted and skipped the weber prime and did it in the oven. I grabbed an oven safe dish but NOT a burner safe dish and while I was scraping the fond, to make up some Au Jus from the dripping the dish blew up and I had broken glass and Au Jus all over the kitchen!!! No Au Jus packets in the cupboard and all the broth splattered on the floor!!!! Prime turned out fine but everyone was saying "something is missing" hahaha no chitt people!!! ha ha Thanks for watching brother!!
That just look amazing 😮😮😮 I can’t imagine being a vegan 🥗
Thanks and ya they really do not know what they are missing out on but just more for you and I to enjoy!!!! hahaha
So true on, “you never see a sausage video “. Lol.
hahaha ya I had to throw in a little dig in on that one!! ha ha Thanks for watching!!!
Looks fantastic my man
I’m doing a 12.5lb prime rib Christmas Eve dinner, what’s the cook time for a 12.5lb at 225-250??
Thanks man !!! And Merry Christmas to you and your family
I think I say I always plan for 30 minutes per pound. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
Don't ever speak Zee name on video, heard it will kill your channel but love the reference cause I am right there with ya! Thse damn ear swabs will get ya, fu(k bugs LOL
Hahahaha ya Rob, I learned that from my Turkey videos!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!!!!!!
Duke style! 😂
😆😀😅 that is really what we call it up here!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching Eric!!!
Like your style - a little nervous about searing theis New Years Eve prime rib. Would scared to serve anything more than medium rare to my wife 😳
You got this!!! Just watch those temps and you will nail it brother!!! Happy New Year!!
I’ll try and report back tonight or tomorrow
My Traeger would not get past 380 so I fired up the weber gas grill to 500 and put the Prime Rib on a grid inside a foil pan. Rotated it twic and when my thermoworks probe hit 130 I took it off. The middle was medium rare but everywhere above was medium at best. It was still tasty and I will have to experiment more with the weber grill for the final sear. Thinking next time take it out of the smoker at 115 and have the weber ready to go and put it right on and pull it at 130. Not gonna upgrade to better cuts until I have this perfected.
**** Note - I found one little button of meat surrounded by fat and after I cut away the fat it was quite arguably the tastiest bite in I have ever tasted. @@DeadBrokeBBQ
Sounds like you are forgetting about the carryover too. If you pull it with an internal of 130 it will carry over to a medium.
You are only cooking it for a few minutes to crisp up the outside at a high temp. I always pull my prime no matter how I cook it at 125 to make sure it stays at a medium rare. Thanks for the update!
The economy point and “zee bugs!“ won yourself a sub my friend! Well done on that and the cook was killer!
Heck ya!!! Welcome to the Nation and I am glad to have a fellow like minded person like yourself aboard!!! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment!!!
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thanks for watching brother!!!!
Even beginners gotta eat! lol
Hahahahaa ya time for the begiiners to stop making hot dogs and jump right on a prime!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!!
Anyone know how to keep it amazing for 3-4 hours post cook for traveling?
That is a pretty big task to travel that far but you could buy a car fridge that cools and heats. A cambro will easily hold it for 2 plus hours and another option is to heat it back up with a Sous Vide.
If I was you I would smoke it to 115°, wrap it up tight put it in a cooler with towels, then when you get to your destination, throw it in an oven and finish it off but you will end up pulling it at around 125-127 to hit the medium rare.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
I have a 20lb standing roast...for your recommendation of 225 at 30mins per pound, will it really take 10 hours to cook?
I always plan for around 30mins per pound but when they are that big they will start to catch up and cook a little quicker at the end. You have 2 options, cut it in half and plan for at least 6-7 hours or run it whole and plan for at least 8. Prime is a large mass of meat and takes a while to get to the center. You can run the pit hotter but you will start to see some greying around the edges. I just ran 2 primes for Christmas totaling 21 pounds and it took just under 7 hours. Good luck!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Prob not going to cut it…will plan for 8 hours…thanks for responding!
You can always crank the pit up hotter! Have a great cook!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Good idea…will probably see where it’s at a few hours before eating time and increase the heat accordingly. Thanks!
I guess I'll sell my car and mortgage my house for one meal
Hahahah I won't charge you that much brother!! ha ha Thanks for watching!!!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ like watching your videos, keep up the good work, learned a lot from ya
Heck ya!!1 Glad I can help you out!!!
Salt brine overnight is the best thing.
100%!!!!!! Everything that I did in this video, I have done for the past couple years and they all turn out pretty much the same on any pit I cook them on!! Thanks for watching!!
prime rib is horrible. Think of the poor animal that died so you could turn it into that thing………just kidding 😂😂. That thing looks awesome. I’m trying my first prime rib in my GMG this weekend. Hopefully it’s as good as that one looks.
Hahaha thanks for watching!! Watch those temps and do the Ricer rotate and I promise you will nail it!!! Enjoy that cook!!
What a fantastic video. But you will eat zzzzbugssss lol keep the videos coming boss man.
Thanks Eric, I think the buds are going to eat me, at least I got some good marbling!!!! hahaha Later bro!!
thanks biden for expensive beef we know its your fault even though we cant actually say how
Hahaha I can say how but the biggest is you can't raise fuel prices unless you want food costs to implode and plan to starve out the middle class. Thanks for watching!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ what has biden done to raise fuel prices
Shut down the pipeline on day one. You are a typical libtard that likes groceries come from the store. Ha ha ok 20% Biden fan, Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁 ha ha

I really enjoy your videos. Very informational and you make it seem easy. I have ordered my LSG but am still like 12 weeks out. Will cook a Prime rib for Christmas on my old Traeger. Keep up the great videos!!
