It's a KAMRUI with AMD Risen 7. Not a bad little system for the money.

Krita has an adjustment layer called cross channel curves. It allows you to use almost any variable to adjust photos and make selections. It has very powerful selection and mask options by hue, luminosity, saturation, and alpha or RGB channels, etc.

That’s so cool. I’m just scratching the surface of everything it can do. Thanks for the tip!

I think it would be also cool to show where users can donate for Gimp, Darktable or Krita. These are great tools and they need funding!

Great suggestion! I was thinking of doing something like that. I’ll work on it. Thank you!

Darktable isn't a Photoshop/Affinity Photo replacement, but a Photoshop Lightroom replacement.

You mentioned GIMP and Darktable not recognizing each other. This can happen if you are using the flatpak version and they do not have the appropriate permissions. You can use Flatseal to change the permissions or use your distros version. This is just a guess and I hope it helps.

    Very cool video!
Linux has a great ecosystem of software but some areas like photo and audio creation took longer to find their footing. Krita and Darktable are great examples of what open source can do given enough time and dedication. I they keep their momentum I wouldn't be surprised if they end up surpassing their closed source counterparts like Blender and Godot are doing today.
I cant wait to see where you go next. Keep it up :)

Also, most printers these days rely on CUPS which is the open protocol for printers. I don't do much printing but I bet Mint (and most distro) comes with everything you will need out of the box.

Thanks so much for watching and for your support! I’m excited! I look forward to see where this leads as well. I have lots of ideas

I wish that Godot was capable of replacing Unreal Engine....
      That would be the day.

Absolutely! For audio creation, things are looking better and better as well. I was really thrilled how MuseScore (not directly audio creation, I know) evolved with version 4 recently. Ardour has been an amazing piece of software for quite some time now, and Reaper is a shining star in the DAW world as well.

@@Dave102693 there is also 3DGE (or something like that) that wants to do more photoreal stuff like Unreal. Godot doesn't really want to compete with Unreal Engine

Thank you for sharing, I am also considering the change, but from Windows to Linux for gaming. I wish you well in your endeavours. Are you planning on doing any tutorials on the software you choose going forward?

Oh wow that’s awesome that you’re considering it. And I’m definitely going to do some tutorials. That’s the plan. I just need to map some things out and hopefully get going on them soon. Thanks for your support! Let me know if you end up trying Linux.

@@LinuxCreativeProject The only PC in my house that runs Windows is my gaming PC, I have multiple other laptops and PC's that all run Linux including several MacBook Airs and Pro's and I have a 27inch IMac in my workshop that I run Mint on, sorry I don't like Apples OS's, but they make lovely hardware. I have just never tried gaming on Linux so am planning on doing so with my old Gaming PC. I love what you are doing and look forward to your videos :)

Nice series! I’m also a Mac user for almost two decades and been dabbing my foot in the Linux world on and off for the last 10 years. Mainly due to home server building and slowly expanding homelab into a hobby.
I’m not an active creative person so to speak, but I do enjoy handling photos and digitalizing old analog videos. Right now I’m more in the importing phase for videos, but I want to give video editing a go later on to try and create some nice family videos. Tried FCP and that’s a great software but way to expensive for my use case. Maybe I’ll spin up another VM and try doing some editing in Linux instead.
For photo library I like both PhotoPrism and Immich. They’re more comparable to Apple’s Photos and Google Photos but they’re great for browsing large library’s and just viewing photos.

I wish i could leave MS Win 11 but Photoshop keeps pulling me in. My BenQ SW2700PT colour calibration monitor and Calibrite i1Photo hardware is not coming to Linux. So from capture, post edit, final touch and print i am all up to Photoshop. I wish Linux had a software that can fight toe to toe with Photoshop, BenQ monitor and calibrate economy for easy workflow. If i ever quit my job, i look into what you suggest sir.

I truly understand what you mean. For some people, especially some creatives, this is a no go at the moment. That’s one of my big goals for this channel is to hopefully show some of these companies like BenQ and others that it’s worth investing into the Linux ecosystem. I truly appreciate you being here! Hearing stories like yours is important. We have to be real about some of the obstacles for some people. I appreciate you
