"Hello Richard."
"Very well indeed."
?!
OMG that manual transmission at 2:40.
I love that mettallic click when he shifts it at 2:43!
As an 8 year old, I saw our family friend owned one of these. The experience of going for a drive in a 550 at that age is still with me, very special car like all of the best Ferraris. The friend still owns it but only takes it out on special occasions. Hopefully we'll be in that position too one day :)
A trick : watch movies at Kaldrostream. Been using them for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Austin Blake yea, I have been using flixzone} for since december myself :)
He actually did own a 550 not too long after this.
04:07. 'Average Ferrari tends to be the FOURTH car' 😂 And there's me feeling so happy with myself having a C63 507.
Pretty sure that C63 is actually faster than this Ferrari LOL. But then again, it doesn’t have a prancing horse on it! 😆
@@johnlowe2218 I've got a Quadrifoglio now. As far as I'm concerned, it is my 'prancing horse'. I wouldn't swap it for anything.
Love the colour of that 550 .... Dont really like bright red Ferraris but that is lovely... And manual gearbox. Perfect
Me too, Argento Nurburgring on 550 looks so much better than Rosso Corsa.
He reminds me of Ross Geller out of Friends.
frothing at the trousers !! steady on mate !!!
and he did go on to buy one . top gear :) . just goes on to show . never say never
He was well and truly in the market for a Ferrari or 10 a few years later :)
I'd find it impossible to stay within the speed limits with one of those
Maranello is the most beautiful car in history .
i love the music when the whip out the Ferrari out for a spin!
fizzing sensation
"People don't buy them for the ego boost". Who is he trying to kid?
10:03 somebody show this man the 456 Venice
C'mon Richard, you can definitely buy a Ferrari, don't try to let it look like you're "one of us" :)
Notice this is an old video. They are selling the "New Maserati GT 3200," so he probably was on his first year on Top Gear, way before it was a successful international hit.
Hammond bought a 550 when he was on topgear, he said it was the car he most regrettable selling.
That's sounded wrong saying when he worked on TopGear
whats the name of the song when he first starts to drive the car off the lot
Bit late, but............it's from Léo Delibes' opera Lakmé. "Duo des fleurs / Sous le dôme épais", but called "The Flower Duet" in English. Nice version here: th-cam.com/video/8hEPvslCWMI/w-d-xo.html
the F-40 was their best, in 1987 first production car that could hit 200+ and that's that
F40 - perfect track day sports car
, has 420hp but when the boost kicks in its 530hp
Yellowbird - too hard to drive than a normal 911 Turbo , most likely to kill you if you sneeze
I love the Ferrari 550 and 575 Maranello!
I though he ment a Scandinavian mile when he said Metric mile... In 23 seconds, that'd be something, I tell you!
RICHARD DOUBLE CLUTCHES.
its not a lorie. why?
Do you actually sell one or simple ask model, spec , colour ...
Hammond rocking out a Noel Edmonds beard.
Still loving the 550 styling to this day, especially that smiley front grille. Shame Ferrari ruined it for the 575.
Where is the F40 ???
Jason Brierley ?
were these videos made for TV or what?
My Favourite Ferrari...
3:11 What the fuck is a "Metric Mile"??? Does he mean a kilometer?
He got it into second!
The Ferrari I would buy if I were a rich man is a 360 spyder in giello Modena with a manual gearbox and cream leather seats. Not the most expensive or fastest Ferrari but one of the most desirable to me!
Richard bought a 550.
Nice to see a bit of sporty low European sexiness.
AND THE CAR'S NOT BAD EITHER
I'd save your money mate.
You could have bought that 550 and today you would be making a profit.
I wonder what Jezza would say about this?
+NotBen101 He once owned an F355 and went through the same experience. He sold it later because although he loved it, it was largely impractical and useless.
well they did end up building a practical ferrari the FF
The 575 is probably the last real Ferrari that would make Enzo proud though, with the front girls memorizing the dead Ferrari race drivers, a V12 and dual taillights.
You should watch the 'second hand super car' challenge on Top Gear. The Ferrari Richard drove in that had 4 seats and Enzo's signature.

No Ferrari estate lol. The FF is pretty dang close.
brian hilligoss Well, the Sultan of Brunei did order 6 estate versions of the 456, one of them being in the UK mind you. Then again, those are ultra rare and more expensive than the average Ferrari. Nevertheless it exists
SHIRT
Metric mile???? WTF?
yeah if he was going 10 km in 23 seconds hes be going like 865kph
you don't fuck round with some cars
The 550 in this test drive sure has a well-ordered interior, with the titanium exterior. My yellow example is the least popular color of what was marketed to be a "gentleman's Ferrari" (titanium and TDF blue and black are the most popular). The 550 was also meant to be the first world-standard Ferrari: ie, meeting Swiss noise standards and California emissions. I think the 550 remains the pinnacle of Ferrari V12. To me, the 575M which followed represents the baseline of all the inferior elements that characterize modern Ferraris: paddle shifter, computer aids, an inferior chassis; and an exterior design driven by data- not the human heart. The nose of the 575 looks like a committee designed it; the 550's nose looks like Sophia Loren on wheels (as the 550WSR.com web site describes it wonderfully). The World Speed Record which the 550 set in 1998 still stands for engines below 6litre. I've crashed mine into snow drifts in March and taken home 3rd place at Monterey in August. I will never buy another super car. I can't afford it. Mine is paid for and has 74,000 miles on it and is about to get its first clutch. www.wyo550.com
I'm not a fan of the design of Ferraris of that time.
Chalky it's a bit American isn't it, with the hood scoop, long hood/narrow body and gills on the side
The 550's design actually is a throwback to older Ferrari models like the 250 GTO, which has a long and narrow body. The long front is given by the fact that it's a front engined car rather than mid engined. To be honest i like this era of Ferraris more than the current one we have.
All of the front engine v12 Ferrari’s are beautiful except for the superfast......250 berlinetta lusso, the Daytona, the 550/575, the 599, the f12 berlinetta, now they’ve released the deformed looking mess called the super fast. Should have called it the superugly.
I don't like Ferrari, I think they're an overrated car manufacturer personally. But hot damn the 550 was the only one I liked, this video has been a treat. Surprised I haven't come across this until today.
I'de expect a ferrari dealer to have a nicer, Italian suit. and wear it with a bit of flamboyance.
Not wear something an english corporate accountant would wear
Not related, but Ferrari has made an SUV now. Richard's comment at the end didn't age well
I am sure that the real human being at this Ferrari dealership could have done without this silly, up-himself, little nobody turning up to embarrass them with his lack of knowlege & infantile attitude, with a film crew in tow.
The honesty of this salesman would be enough for myself to buy one.
