I was heading to Guatemala back in 1976 and was in Mexico traveling overland by bus and I heard about the earthquake and ended up staying in Mexico for a couple of months the news was that it was a very bad earthquake and thousands died so I never made it there till the early 80s but my trip in Mexico was very good. It was a different world traveling back then I would say that Guatemala is one of my favorite places in my travels especially the Lake area.

I was on vacation in Guatemala about 15 years ago and visited lake Atitlan, Guatemala City, and the old Spanish historical city. Tikal was well worth the trip to see Mayan temple complex.

Hi U2 love your walkabouts Qiang ,and the colours in all the art work painted everywhere it's even incorporated into the clothing showing the vibrant designs ,reminds me a lot of Aztec art .take care folks and thanks for another interesting video ,love it Dan when you give a little history of where you both are .
Wow looks like such a beautiful area to explore! As someone who's financial goals are motivated by a love of travel, these kind of videos are so enjoyable to find. Thanks so much for sharing! :)

Wow, that brings back some good memories. Our favourite village was San Juan. I'm pretty sure that gallery at the beginning of your video is where we bought our painting. It's one of the popular "vista de pajaro" market scenes - we love it. Interesting no one seems to be wearing masks.
Great video and channel. I'm on Lake Atitlan right now, Santiago. I will head to San Marco next. Such a vibrant area, so many great opportunity form filming great videos for my channel and glad I came. Big sub right here, keep up the good work. 🙂
I would have never found this place, it wasn’t on my list, but I love to walk, and there are so many places to explore by foot after you take the water taxi. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Dan... you're such a generous and candid travel vlogger. I really like you. Thanks for all you do. Qiang, I have to ask you this, how do you keep your skin so beautiful and do you have a fitness routine. I'd like to see Qiang video on her must have beauty products when she travels
Hi guys, another great video. Guatemala looks beautiful and safe. I’d love to spend a few weeks there for a quick visit and a search for the best place to visit for six months. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
The women in Santiago Atitlán wear the most beautiful scarves woven in a style unique to the area. I once asked one of them where I could buy a scarf like hers, and she sold me the one she was wearing. 😁
Great story Lisa D. Thank you for sharing it with us. How much was the scarf? Your interaction with our channel helps us get subscribers and views, so we really appreciate it. Best, Dan

@@VagabondAwake Hej Dan - I enjoy your videos and photoes so much and very good information. But in this video, I miss a better technical quality and I wonder if it is compression from upload.... o or just a cheap camcorder? I will maybe buy a gopro myself or the new Samsung Galaxy 21 - don't you think it will do it better? You did not answer on equipment? Do you use a gopro?
Anyone seriously considering moving there should start off in Panahachel. It’s easy to travel from there, there’s a lot to do there, plenty of cheap accommodations and other expats to talk with about their experiences.
Hi Kenneth, there is great Internet available there but not everyone buys the good stuff, so just have your potential host run the ATT test and send you a pcitrue of the results before you book. I use ATT Test. You can Google it.

Great content Dan! I cringe every time you say atitlan. It sounds like a teat lan, not a tit lan

It took about 1 week.
Hi, Dan. Qiang is fantastic. I've decided to come to Guatemala, try to wine & dine her, & propose marriage to her.
I'm only joking, Dan(she is fantastic, though).
Yes. She is a great catch for sure.
Yes. And you two certainly make a great couple.
