  • Hey everyone! So in today's episode we are going to make the world's strongest knot. The Dragon Bowline, of course we will first need to start out with a normal bowline then we can transform it into its final form! If you enjoyed learning this one don't forget to share it so others can learn. See you in the next one.

    The last thing I need is to learn another knot. So I'm kinda glad that it was a joke.

    I didn't know about the saddling a dead horse bit, guess that's the/another reason why we're encouraged to tie a stopper knot. cheers man

    But the bowline doesnt slip, is just breaks the rope. which shouldnt be different with either way of tying it. But i learned that the left handed Bowline is worse because the tail can be pushed back inside the knot by the thing you fastened it to. So the right handed bowline is recommended.

    • @BetaClimbers
      @BetaClimbers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ll have to make a follow video on that. I think it depends on the type of rope some ropes are more prone to slippage.

    • @TheMule71
      @TheMule71 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a wikipedia page dedicated to the "cowboy", or Dutch, bowline. It says there isn't much difference, unless you load the loop itself (which I think is something the bowline is not designed for).

    2:07 We need a Ryan Jinks pull test on that one... just from the visual it looks like it is indeed pinching the tail (though I agree I have never tied one that way)

    • @JoBianco
      @JoBianco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some further research, seems to be called a "left-handed bowline" and still functions the same... Would be interested to hear other's thoughts

    The bowline.
    The running bowline.
    The dragon bowline, which is to just tie a bowline and drag it on the ground behind you.
    A corny joke I heard from an old tree guy.
