Great video, we're so privileged to share this safari experience with you. Almost like being there! I just wished that the critics on here would realise that modern Safari's like this are actually helping save and preserve the wildlife, not many years ago it have been shooting with a rifle and not a camera!!! Why criticize the filming, you're not a pro! Great job, loved every minute, thank you 🙏🙏
@@brianrobertbond6909 I've been told that the three "intruders" are a coalition that roams a bit south of where the skirmish happened, and that all of them are doing well now. Yes I agree :) That cheetah is named "Rra Dikolobe" which our guide, TJ, told us means "warthog specialist" - but the meal he was enjoying there was an impala
What a beautiful video. Watching this while quarantined dreaming of a safari. Could you please tell me where in Botswana this was and which safari company you used? You saw a lot of animals doing their natural thing, is it because there were fewer than normal safari vehicles? When I went to Masai Mara the animals were very skittish because of so many safari vehicles.
Hi uvasag, thank you, I'm glad you liked the video! These clips were filmed at three camps in the Okavango Delta - Lebala Camp, Machaba Camp and Splash Camp. We booked the trip with Roger from Safari Lifestyles, and I highly recommend contacting him if you're planning to go! About the animals, this is somewhat normal in Botswana. Many animals are used to the vehicles, so they're comfortable and relaxed. Not all are like that, but many are. For example we saw a mother cheetah with three cubs at Lebala, and she wasn't used to the vehicles so she led her cubs away from us. We followed and watched from far away, and she stayed still for a little while, and then we left. The guides explained that this is how the animals can become used to the vehicle - short interactions where nothing bad happens. We also saw a mother cheetah with three cubs at Splash camp, and she was a bit more used to the vehicles, and after a while we were able to get very close. Also if the animals get used to the vehicles from a very young age, for example if their mother is calm around the vehicles, then they learn from her as a cub that the vehicles aren't something to be afraid of. Eventually they barely notice us, which is perfect, and we get to watch their natural behavior :) I haven't been to the Mara yet but I'm hoping to go in the next year or so. I'll keep in mind that the animals might be more shy there.
@@michaelwillis2295 thank you for taking the time to reply. I’ll look up safari lifestyle. How many days were you in Botswana? Did you do SA or Namibia too?
@@uvasag Hi again - we were in Botswana for 8 nights, but if you can stay longer it's definitely a good idea. I've been on safari in South Africa once and I liked it a lot, but for various reasons Botswana has kept calling me back year after year. I haven't been to Namibia yet but it is on my list!

Yes our guides informed us, he was injured in a fight with Old Gun and Sebastian a few days earlier. Two of the three intruders had injuries and were limping. The one that was being chased in this video is the only one that was still uninjured. Old Gun and Sebastian actually chased him further than the airstrip, which is where the video begins with the three intruders recuperating. So the two injured males escaped in an unknown direction while the healthy one was chased, and by being chased, he saved his friends.
Thank you Orrin! The lions, and many of the other animals in the video, are habituated to humans. They're very used to the safari trucks and the people. Also it is believed that they don't usually recognize individual people when we are sitting inside the truck. But even if we are on foot the lions would be less likely to attack us because they tend to have a natural fear of humans, rather than think of us as food. Most of them did not spend their whole life hunting and killing us, we are usually something to be afraid of. I have heard guides tell us about lions that are more aggressive toward the vehicle, but I've never seen them myself, the guides make sure to stay away from them
