  • Our 3D printer station is in dire need of an update. The basement is so cold that prints are peeling off the bed! We need an enclosure and a different shelf system.

    The tool you found looks like a clean out key tool. The covers on your clean out access for the waist lines typically have covers that need a key to access them especially in older homes.

    I think the radius you measure in the end is 12.7mm, which would make it 1/2". When measuring something like this, I tend to look for the closest round number. That's how you'd do it in CAD, unless the measurement is controled by other features around it

    Cool (...er, warm?) shop infrastructure build. That enclosure looks like a beast, I might need one of those if I ever get a 3D printer because my basement is downright frigid in the winter and it's the only place I could keep a printer although I imagine the foam box one would be more in my price range. I feel a little bad for that poor dusty computer tower in the corner.

    I hope this isn't a foolish question, it's just that I'm still learning all the ins and outs of molding and casting.
    I want to make silicone molds of action figure parts like weapons, accessories, and body parts. The big concern that I have regarding casting however, is that I don't want to cast any parts in resins that are dangerous even when fully cured since they are going to be handled afterwards. What resins should I use for my projects and which should I avoid at all costs?
    Thank you for your time.

    I have always been confused why printers don't like to be cold. The nozzles heat up pretty hot. What exactly happens when it gets cold?

    • @Pickleman0
      @Pickleman0 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Temperature is not about the printer but the filament. Filament shrinks every so slightly when it cools (and different materials shrink at different rates). If the filament cools too much or two quickly it can delaminate and not bond (to itself or the bed) correctly. This is why printers have heated beds and fans, it's not just about getting hot and melty but also about controlling the rate of cooling. The same is mostly true of resin and temperature as well.
